Bang Shootie conversation

Finally, this thread demonstrates its value to me!

I’m looking for an Elmer Fudd image, and I can’t find one I like of him with his trusty double-barreled shotgun. Some images even show him with sort of a rifle.

Is this kinda-sorta a shotgun, although not double-barreled?

The Elmer Fudd character is based on the writer’s uncle. His uncle was an avid hunter and used the Browning single shot and side by side shot gun. Fudd has been pictured at times with both.

You’re welcome

Classic Elmer Fudd hunted with a single barrel single shot shotgun. Yep, they do exist. @Orangeslice13 was mentioning one awhile back. Updated Elmer Fudd can be seen with a classic side-by-side shotgun.

In 1940, field guns, simple undecorated shotguns were popular with average Americans. Often with a full and/or modified bore, these could be effective hunting varmints from squirrels to deer by varying the shot used. Elmer was an everyman, hunting rabbit and the occasional duck to put meat on the table. He failed a lot.

While I was plowing through all the images, I kept seeing memes saying that they took Elmer’s rifle away. Having always thought that he carried a double-barreled shotgun (hey, I am old), I was like When did he switch to a rifle? Because I figured that surely people making such memes would know the difference; thus my confusion.

No wonder I always loved Bugs Bunny (and all WB cartoons) - I’m always going down rabbit holes.

Meme makers be lazy, imperceptive mooks.

I do not know why images uploaded to VN from my iPhone rotate. I’ll appreciate any tips on how to correct this.

This was the first station from which I shot. The instructor had me pose with the gun so that my face was visible. I shot from five stations and hit ~75% of the clays. The Fulton shot true, however, it’s not really suitable for sporting clays, trap, or skeet. My instructor offered to help me purchasing and fitting an over-under when I’m ready.

Had a good morning. It was brisk.

Edit the photo and shrink the margins just a little. Don't know why that works, but it does.

@Orangeslice13, I was doing an Internet search on my Remington 1900. It was made between 1900 and 1910. During this time period, damask barrels were a $5 option. Back then, the option was desirable enough to command a premium.

Remington 16 Gauge. How do I find out what model and year built? I've looked on line and haven't found anything definitive yet.
