Bang Shootie conversation

I didn't know this. Shït I always thought it was at the same time as Christmas but 8 wonderful nights. Do you all celebrate Hanukkah?
It’s very much a kid’s holiday, but we usually fix a brisket and latkes meal the first night, and light the menorah. Hubs isn’t religious, so he usually doesn’t sing the prayers unless my younger daughter is there and makes him. She was here over Thanksgiving (and Hanukkah) with her Aussie boyfriend, who was confused to see her launch into Hebrew.

“Finding the menorah” involves figuring out if it wound up in the Halloween decorations boxes or the Christmas decorations boxes.

Happy Chrismukkah!

Edit to add: Hanukkah (Chanukah) is a movable feast, like Passover and Easter, so it varies each year how close it is to Christmas.

We too have a lax approach to Hanukkah.
It’s not a biblical feast so it’s something we do “ish”. The red women put up a saturnalia (Christmas) tree this year and I’ve been threatening to burn a Yule log. Lol

The more you know …..

Yuletide, a word used as a synonym for Christmas, is a combination of Yule, from the pagan winter festival Jol, and tide, which here refers to an annual festival or the season of said festival.

The tradition of the Yule log began in Norway, where a giant log was hoisted onto the hearth to celebrate the return of the sun each year. Hold a simple ritual by having each family member write down wishes, place them in the log, and then burn it in your fireplace.

Him: I found the perfect spot for your pop-up baked goods.
Her: Great! Where?
Him: It’s a little unconventional…
Her: Shut up and tell me where.
Him: The gun store. The owners very cool. He likes the idea and will clear the display counters. We have to get them food clean, then make them gun clean again.
Her: Godforbid a cookie crumb be in with the pistols and knives…
Him: Exactly.

Standing on the back porch sighting in the pellet rifle, you saw a picture of by shooting a brass bell, I heard the doorbell ring. I answered the door and the was 2 police officers standing there. I was holding the rifle and said “can I help you gentlemen”. One of them said “we’ve heard reports of some shooting a rifle here….could you put that down?” I told them it was a pellet gun and asked if they wanted to shoot it. They walked threw the house to the back porch and shot with me for close to an hour. While shooting I saw a neighbor walk out on their back porch, throw up their hands and go back in the house. They are from England and I know who called the police.

I have added a much larger and louder target bell at the fence line.

I have a .22 Ruger pellet gun, and a burn barrel that I shoot. I love that thing.

Btw. These things are a legitimate rifle. Mine shoots 177 caliber pellets at 1400 feet per second. The difference between these things and a 22 rifle is range. They loose terminal velocity in under 200 yards. My buddies and I squirrel hunt and rabbit hunt with these things.

Edit: I’ve killed 2 turkeys with it too.
Edit 2: yes, we ate them

I have heard it’s tough to find pellets for the 22 break barrel.
My wife got it for me 2-3 years ago, and bought me several cans of pellets. I had bought some when I got it also. I haven't looked in a while, but our Walmart did have some a while ago, I just noticed when in that aisle. Next time I go I may check and see.

They would have got a kick out of me sighting in my red dot on my 5.57 AR then. Or shooting 22 pest control at squirrels.

See the problem is those are not legal in Hamilton co within 1000 yards of another residence.
I’ve thought about filling out a NFA for a silencer for my 10/22 though. Still not legal to shoot in the back yard but nobody would hear it.

Oddly, nobody complained when I shot the coyote.

And when I said people shooting I meant other neighbors . Not sure who the one was that called on us but they must not live here anymore cause they quit calling.
