A WW2 1911 (colt) starts around 2000$ And goes up from there.
a m1 carbine 30 cal would be super cool IMO. My ex-FIL used to clip the wings/back of turkeys at 60 yds with one standing on his 3 wheeler.
what about this ???
Italian M91 Carcano Cavalry Carbine - 17.5" Barrel 6.5 Carcano 6 Round Capacity - Italian Carabinieri Rifles - NRA Surplus Good to Very Good Condition - C&R Eligible.
$220
I’m not a fan of the 2$ per round of the 303 Brit
I’m a huge fan of the SKS and AK platforms. That’s probably why I have so many of themIt's come down a bit recently, 1.50 a round at SGammo, and that's about the same as 30-06, 6.5 swedish...and most of the other 30 caliber battlefield rifle rounds.
That's why I suggest he get something converted to 308/ 7.62 nato, or and Mosin/sks in 7.62 russian or 39 etc
cookeville
The 52 is a badass but they’re asking for both arms and a leg for it. There’s a really nice Bruno (vz24) on there tooGo to armslist and put in tennessee and cookville for location. Make sure you click on Private party on the listing buttons, and make turn off want to buy and trade.
I see a gorgeous sportorized Enfield with scope on there, but I wasn't logged in so it might be pricey.

Also there a vz 52, which if it's in 7.62 x 39 (52/57) Will be cheap as hell to shoot. They also have a norinco sks on there I would not hesitate on for the right price.
I like them too but do not own one, mainly cause I've always had a friend with one I could shoot...lol I need to follow my own advice and pick one up.I’m a huge fan of the SKS and AK platforms. That’s probably why I have so many of them
