Barnes is over Uros

Not sure I get the equivalency in your argument.
Are you saying because a player plays for a “public” university they should be called out publicly??
If so, I’m guessing Vandy’s coach doesn’t have the right to call out a player in the media?

IMO, I think it’s a bad look for a coach either way. Anyone who has ever played sports is going to be more motivated by a coach they feel has their back. That coach can chew a$$ all he wants in practice and in the locker room.

However, doing so in public only risks alienating a player.
Nah…calling out in public when needed is ok. Especially when Uros displayed this stuff in public. But it’s ok lostsheep…we can disagree on that. No problems.

Uros has played with an edge the last 2 yrs. Barnes should have addressed this behavior BEFORE it cost him a game.
Playing with an edge is often good. Barking in someone's face like that isn't. As far as I know this is the first time he's done it.

I personally love it when Uros plays with emotion, even if it involves some antics. He plays the villian well. His best game last year was against LSU when afterwords he made a Tiger King post on social media! I love the confidence and I think it helps him be stronger around the rim. The unfortunate aspect this past game is that we played a really good Arizona team, with some talented bigs, and refs that called every little tack foul in the paint.

Telling a coach how to handle his players, a coach who knows more about basketball and relationships and specific situations within his program, is like Pee Wee Herman telling The Rock to toughen up.

The same ones saying how Barnes should act would probably include 50% of those folks who liked how honest Deion Sanders was in his first players meeting in public.

Confusing times to be a Vol....

Banks suspended for SC....
fans, we need to know publicly
CJH- handled internally , no need to discuss it

Uros- doing Detroit Bad Boys
Barnes- I'm tired of his antics (in the paper)
fans- handle it internally and don't say anything publicly.

As a rule, Fans a Fool
when it's Hot
he wants it Cool
when it's Cool
he wants it Hot
Always wanting what is Not.

Tennessee had open looks late and missed. That is more concerning than the officiating as bad as it was. When you are on the road you are going to get hosed at times. I have seen worse in Lexington.
It was also TN’s only true road game this year. I don’t remember getting all that many favorable whistles in Lexington.[/QUOT

I’d bet that Barnes got a little extra in on the refs at the end, but not to show them up or to direct a hissy fit at them. He’s giving them enough so that they’ll remember it well the next time they call one of his games. Telling them off just because he’s mad accomplishes nothing. Letting them know that he’s very unhappy with them without going ballistic earns respect that can be beneficial the next time they are assigned to call his game.

This is way too calculated for some posters to fathom apparently...lol

I’m going to take a shot in the dark here and say it’s highly likely Barnes has discussed the Uros “antics” multiple times in private and Uros did nothing to change so he took it public to try and make a point. There is no way this is the first time this has been discussed with Uros. Sometimes tough love is the only way to make change happen.

Precisely this. I am continuously amazed at the degree of presumption by some on this board who...lol.

And coach needs to handle it behind closed doors.
When ask about it his response should be, we've addressed it. Next question.
This ain't the first time Barnes has called out players in public.
It's not a good look
They make Legal money now. Their not High School kids anymore.

Poop in the Music City goal line BS stopped call

I don't believe it is. The officials in that clip are SEC officials, and obviously, ACC officials did the bowl game. It isn't against OM last year either because Marc Curles was the head official, and that's not him in the white hat.

My bad, thanks for the correction.

Not sure that's true.

Wright on retirement: Usual 'edge' wasn't there

He seems to be good with those things.

He’s not going to publicly admit it, but I read an article where his model of developing 4 stars over 3-4 years was going to be challenged with NIL and the portal. Guys don’t want to wait that long anymore.

I think it was a little bit of everything. The landscape has changed, and his wife wanted him to be home more.

There was a recent article where he basically said NIL/portal had made things crazy and they'd be crazy for the next few years, even though it would ultimately be better for CBB

He said that younger coaches were needed to do all that and said that's why he thought it was a good time to hand Villanova over to a 37-year-old coach.

I'm guessing you don't have the link to said article that counters the one I posted?
