You’re right, he’s not going anywhere because he’s a really good regular season coach. As long as people are happy with never doing much in the post season we have our man. I hope he proves me wrong someday, but I’m not going to sit here and ignore history. Are there any indications of that history changing?Ridiculous. Rick Barnes is not going to be fired. Period.
Only way you even consider making that move is if you have a Jay Wright, Rick Pitino (who I dislike as a person), Billy Donovan, Mark Few, Brad Stevens, or someone of that coaching caliber guaranteed to be on the hook. We don’t, so that’s that.
Just have to hope Vols get lucky as hell and Barnes can do something he’s not accomplished since 2008.

No, there is not.
Tennessee Should Consider Hiring FAU Coach Dusty May As Rick Barnes Underperforms Once Again: Guilbeau
Not saying I agree with anything that was written but it's a common narrative that UT should move on from Barnes.
One thing I’ve learned through my years on volnation is every poster is “the best at what they do”, “coached or played at a high level”, “gives more money to the university than everyone else” etc. etc. Honestly the majority of people on here have no idea what they’re talking about. Which is fine, we are all fans on a message board, but it is truly amazing to see some of the most unhinged opinions based in ignorance get followed up by “My opinion matters because (enter made up reason here)”.H
How do you know I’m not the very best at what I do? You don’t, and I am.
I doubt he even knows we won the SEC tourney last year. To his credit he did say he’s not going to get emotionally invested until the basketball program starts making elite 8’s and final 4’s . When I read that, I was wondering why he was posting in here at all.You just ignored the SEC Tournament which isn’t the regular season.
You must not be one either, you are a mediocre fan. You fit your own definition of it. Delusional if you don't see it. Look in the mirror and you will see below the pack not even middling. Just existing for no purpose. You have a very poor understanding of the word, “support.” I’ll go out on a limb and venture that you’re not a lawyer.

This diehard football fan doesn’t want to fire Barnes. I know a bunch of diehard football fans that love Coach Barnes so I wouldn’t pin the fire Barnes crowd as die hard football fans. I think most of the ones clamoring for a change are younger fans that don’t know our basketball history. We have had some good eras but we have never been to a final four not have we ever been a elite 8 regular. But we have the most consistent winning coach since Ray Mears and folks are mad because we haven’t been to the final 4. Not a single 1 seed made the final 4. It is not easy at all going through March madness, the best of teams fail. Barnes isn’t going to coach forever but we would be foolish to not let him finish up here. Just my opinion. GBOIt's about 95% diehard football fans who casually watch basketball.
