When no one gave you a shot before the series started it is. Most were calling for the Birds to get swept.
I don't think anyone who really follows baseball thought the Mets had the pitching to sweep any team that had Chris Carpenter.

Do you watch Baseball Tonight? They didn't give us a shot at all. And in fact Gammons and John Kruk (one of my all time favorite players) both laughed before the first game and stated that this might get ugly.

I do, but I don't remember anyone calling for a sweep.

NLE- Phillies
NLC- Cardinals
NLW- Dodgers
Wild Card- Mets

ALE- Red Sox
ALC- Tigers
ALW- A's
Wild Card- Angels

World Series Phillies-Angels, Phillies take the crown

As much as I'd like to put my A's in the world series, I just don't think we have the offensive power.

Gammons and Kruk did state that this would get ugly and both laughed as they said it. I won't swear an oath to the word sweep. But I do remember them saying that. It made me even more intense on the games.

I have no reason to dispute that. Most experts did pick the Mets.

I don't think the A's have enough offense to even make the playoffs.

they've got the pitching and defense to get through the west. Only having four teams in the West helps. Playing the Rangers and Mariners that many times will boost their win total. The Angels i expect to go through ups and downs, but eventually be strong.

For everyone going out for the UT-Cal game, the A's and Tigers are in town that weekend.

The thing about the ALW is that it is often crazy. That division many years is up and down so much it's hard to tell. One thing is for sure. The Texas Rangers will make a run of about 15 games or so then crash.

The Reds and Rangers are equally adept at developing starting pitchers.

I can agree to that.

What ever happened to Mazzone (sp) who was the pitching guru from the Braves who went to Baltimore? It appears he can regain the magic.

he's still in baltimore. it'll be interesting this year for them because it all depends on the health of benson. they've got the offense finally, at least IMO

Benson's out for the year. Elbow I think.

do you have a link on that? last thing i read, and i swear it was just yesterday that James Andrews recommended delaying the surgery and he could be back this year if his rehab goes smoothly?

I could care less about him. When is his wife going to do another photo spread?

No link. I just remember seeing that a couple of weeks ago. Didn't know it had changed. My bad, and good for him if it works out. Used to play against him here suburban ATL.

i care only because here in norfolk we get the baltimore feed (over the dc nationals feed for whatever reason) and if benson plays, they show mrs. benson in the stands.
