Most don't realize that at least 1 candidate cut the interview short and essentially walked out on Cheek and Hart because of the absurdity of what they were saying/demanding.

So what if it wasn't Harts guy. Who was Harts guy? If its Harts guy, does that then equal more success for gundy because he offered him first? I don't think gundy would outcoach Butch.
No joke it was a last minute hire. We were running out of time. Coaches are scared of this job. Butch wasn't. Again, I don't see where that matters in the long run. He will either do well or he won't. Some VN posters don't think he is good. The professionals in the business disagree. We will see.

Wrong yet again fool. Coaches aren't scared of coaching at UT. They're not gonna coach anywhere a Chancellor like Cheek is out of control. Cheek scares them (and I don't blame them) not the job.

I agree with you on Cheek. And I trust he will be out next year. But you are mistaken about some coaches. UT is a risk for coaches with cush jobs like gundy and strong have right now. It takes a crazy coach or one with great confidence to come to UT, go into other backyards to recruit because you don't have a recruiting base, then try to beat the best coaches coaching the best players in the country, and get it done quickly, or be sent out the door begging for someone to hire you. That's the way some out there view the situation, whether you want to deny it or not.

Well, there is a lot of promising talent. But I think we have been saying this for a while now. Some of these off season moves are baffling.

I agree. It's like I posted after everyone was bummed about strong and Gundy. Its not that they didn't think UT was the better, more prestigious job.its just they were playing it safe.

It matters cause the guys at the top of the list said no and the guy at the bottom said yes. Every other coach was scared and Butch wasn't? No, he almost doubled his salary and is at one of the most storied programs in CF history. Pretty much a no brainer imo. Like I said, I hope the guy does well cause that means UT football does well but we could have done better.
