Here in Virginia I pay State income tax, state sales tax and local sales tax. Oh and I have to pay personal property tax on house, cars, mowers valued over 1K etc.

LOL. Sounds familiar. My first apartment was a 16 foot square covered in dark brown shag carpet and I had two more tackle boxes and 4 more fishing rods than I had beds.

That is a good place to start. We need to our exceed current tax revenue but at the same time keep the rate fairly low.

We need to cut spending across the board and reduce the amount of tax revenue needed.

While I think this is a plausible idea, you will find that some people will complain to high heaven that sales taxes are regressive. I myself don't believe that. I still think a flat income tax on EVERYONE and EVERY CORPORATION is the way to go.

People that like their loopholes.

When there's a bum who approaches me asking for change I find it difficult not to give them double birds to their face. It's only because I don't understand what most have happened in their life to not want to bathe and just go out each day begging for money that I don't

Income or wages? So you’re saying capital gains should be taxed? I think if you’re going to do this you tax the acquisition but that’s it. Then the gov isn’t involved anymore. Once you start looking at asset value increase and gains it’s only fair to consider losses too. Aaaaaaaaannnnnddd full circle back to where we are.

Or they should be taught rather than demonized. Making the "good decision" is easy when everyone around you is doing the same. I've realized from some of our outreach programs that it's hard to break years of family history or teaching. It's seen as such a foreign concept

Exactly. You can’t let someone take a risk and then only tax the gain. It would kill growth.

True for some, but I wouldn’t say majority. For me, that ignores way too many socio-economic factors. Pulling yourself up by the bootstraps is a romanticized notion in a lot of cases.
