Basilio should never question coaching decisions

I have never listened to a Basilio show.
Cool, don't go to the dark side. His high shrill radio voice is a big turn off. If he didn't buy his own airtime, he wouldn't have a platform to spew his garbage. I quit listening to him years ago and I stopped reading his blog too. You have missed nothing

Even Basilio jokes about his voice sounding like Arnold Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter. I love that Tony can laugh at himself. I rarely listen to Tony, anymore, but I check the blog every once in awhile. I can see why Tony isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I like him, each his own

Honestly I don't TB was wring about Barnes at the time, if you're getting paid a lot of money, you need to getting top tier recruits. It took Barnes some time, Tony acknowledged it

This is analogous to saying the heart surgeon took too much time on that successful heart replacement

I think Barnes has been around the game long enough that he values the culture of the program over signing random 5* recruits. Took him a couple years to get his culture established with the Williams / Admiral team. Things have been going consistently well since.

right and TB definitely sees that and has said he's been wrong about it

Bingo, and I said it at the time; he wasnā€™t coming in to build a flash in the pan team in year 1. He entered a dumpster fire that had to be completely rebuilt from the studs, and it started with culture. He could have brought in some Detrick Mostellas to make a splash right off the bat, but that would have only been a band-aid on a flesh wound. He had a bigger job than just winning basketball games. What we have now is a product of what was done then.

Iā€™m surprised that Mostella actually made it into a 2nd year (half a year anyway) with Barnes. I wonder what heā€™s doing these days. The Donnie recruits are polar opposites of what Barnes built the program around.

Mostella could take a bong rip like a champ.

If Lew Evans wasnā€™t bogarting.

Those first couple of Barnes rosters were mighty odd. Derrick Walker? Wow.

BTW, DW is having a nice super senior year at Nebraska. Averaging 15/9. But has missed 5 games for some reason. He started all 6 games that he played in.

Weird. ā€œIā€™ll say the same thing that I said the other night after the Colorado game: that he missed the game for healthcare reasons,ā€ Hoiberg said. ā€œRight now, Derrick is day-to-day, and Derrick will address everybody when heā€™s ready to do so.ā€
