Basillo Point about wanting Bama to lose to LSU…

I hearing a different story from the sports media right now. According to them, Bama has the win over Georgia and that will top the head to head match-up lost to TN, if both teams end the season 10-2. Better be rooting against Bama tomorrow.

Best in the long run if Bama ends the season 9-3 and no roads to the playoffs.
I haven't heard any of that but it doesn't matter. The sports' media doesn't have a choice in the playoffs

You know we're not competing with them for a spot right? There are currently 4 SEC teams in the 12 team playoff. Georgia, Texas, us, and Alabama. If either Alabama or LSU win they don't knock us out cause there's already a 4th SEC team in the field. Our concern is with teams outside the playoff field jumping us. Teams like Ole Miss, A&M, and SMU. We need Alabama to beat LSU because it helps our strength of schedule. If LSU beats Bama it devalues our only quality win and allows even a team like SMU with only 1 loss to potentially get consideration over us if we lose to Georgia. That's why we need Alabama and Georgia to win this weekend. They would knock out LSU and Ole Miss while bolstering our strength of schedule considering we play both of them.

There is zero logic in rooting against Alabama and Georgia this week. We need both of them to win.
I actually do agree with you. Just highlighting the prospect of UT just winning takes care of all the problems regardless of who else wins/loses.

However, if we are to assume a loss at UGA, then I absolutely want Bama and UGA to continue to win the rest of their games. I think the situations in the past regarding us and FSU and the four game playoffs were circumstantial. Assuming we’re a healthy 10-2 with no team altering injuries (ala Hooker), I can’t fathom the committee leaving us out in favor of Bama.

The Arkansas loss is hurting us more and more by the week. Truth is, I have a feeling that we need to beat Georgia to get in. If there ends up being a bunch of 10-2 teams, we might get hosed. Beat GA and it's a non-issue. We could could use some style points too. From here on out, I think it's going to be a beauty contest. We need to cover the spread against Miss St. tonight.

Texas would be 11-1 if they win out.

The loser of the SEC conference game would take 5th.
LSU (10-3) would not take 5th over Tennessee (11-1).

I also do not believe that it's a certainty that if Texas lost the SEC Championship game and ended 11-2, that they would be automatically 5th, ahead of Tennessee. It's an unbalanced conference schedule, UT, Texas, & LSU do not play one another.

I actually do the that the best possible outcome is :

Tennessee wins out (11-1)
LSU wins out (10-2)
Texas wins out (10-2)

LSU/Texas in the SEC Championship game

Hello 5th seeded Vols!
?

How would Tennessee not be in the SEC championship in this scenario? We would be the highest ranked 1-SEC loss team.

Per the Allstate playoff percentage, If alabama wins, their percentage to make playoffs is 80% (lsu drops to 9%). If lsu wins their playoff percentage is 48% and bama drops to 21%.

I am pulling for lsu to win. I know that percentage will change based on other games, but I prefer the winner having a 48% chance vs a 80%.

Plus it’s just natural to pull for bama to lose!

If we end up tied 10-2 with bammer we will not make the playoffs.
I’ve refuted this in the simplest terms I can come with a dozen times, as have many others. This is my last try. Tennessee’s best chance to make it in at 10-2 is to get in WITH Bama at 10-2. I don’t know why so many people think one of us has to be left out but it’s not correct.

UGA 11-1
Texas 11-1
Bama/LSU 10-2
Tennessee 10-2

Or

UGA 11-1
Bama/LSU 10-2
Tennessee 10-2
A&M 10-2

The only way we can get left out is an Ole Miss win today or if the committee puts both Texas teams in.

The winner of Ole Miss/UGA and the winner of LSU/Bama are in. We are fighting for one of the other 2 remaining spots

Georgia will definitely be ahead of us at 10-2. They have the best strength of schedule in the country. They'll have way better wins than us having beat Texas and Clemson. They'll also have head to head over us. Georgia losing to Ole Miss doesn't help us at all. Plus it puts Ole Miss at 10-2 with a win over Georgia ahead of us.

I don't care how much you hate Alabama and Georgia. We need them to win this weekend if we want Tennessee to be in the strongest position possible in the eyes of the playoff committee.
I’m pulling for Georgia and LSU to win.

Agree that’s exactly what I’ve been saying. If bama and OM lose today they are both out. It allows us to have 1 slip up the remainder of the season. Obviously us being 10-2 would get us in over a 9-3 bama and OM.

If Tennessee, Texas or Texas A&M, and LSU all finish with 1 loss in conference, we're out of the SEC Championship game.

The tie breaker used for this scenario is record vs. all common opponents. We have the loss to Arkansas. They don't.

What happens if the SEC only gets 3 bids?

Big10 - 4
SEC - 3
Big12 - 2
ACC - 2
G5 - 1

This would be our worst possible outcome and would require SMU beating Miami in the ACC championship game along with the committee taking a 1 loss BYU. Not super likely, but possible

I didn’t know that was the tie breaker. Thanks for the information

In that scenario I’m afraid we have to beat UGA to get in or hope for multiple upsets. But I have a hard time thinking voters will put 4 Big10 in before putting 4 SEC in
