Through all OOC home games, TN is averaging 14,701 compared to 16,504 last seaon OOC home games. If we see the same decline in attendance throughout the SEC schedule we will be outside the top 10 in attendence (around 13-15 compared to last years numbers). With no KY to bump the attendence, then we may see it decline even further.

OOC home games vs Xavier Wichita state and Memphis are more appealing than nc state and Virginia. They also did some bad scheduling in regards to dates/times.

Attendance for hoops is fine. However, if the bottom falls out of this thing, you're gonna see it drop. And like you said, no ky at home will hurt.

Yeah, I knew that without any big ticket games, the attendance would drop. Falling outside the top 10 maybe 15 will be disappointing.

Our biggest home games were Nc State and UVA, both were scheduled over Christmas break when students are gone, that definitely hurt.

I think you'll see much better numbers for conference games but a lot will have to do with the success of the team. They go on a run and numbers will jump back up, they fall apart and the 14-15k will probably become the norm.

It was strange that we didn't have many Saturday home games, and I would think that effects the attendance. I am not sure the reason for that. LV could effect it, but they normally play on Sunday's. I know some coaches like to have their players catch a weekend break every now and then. I wouldn't think TV was much of a factor.

Much of the fan base, is not excited about our chances of making it to the NCAA, so they are staying away. Just a guess!

Could also be that the Out of Conference games this season are not against national opponents so fan base isn't really interested in attending those games.

Could be the day of the week that the games are scheduled. Saturday game vs. a Monday game, etc. etc.

Its easier to just change the channel than to watch this display in person I would imagine. I don't go to any of the games because I live so far away. But at the same time. When i have made it down. The restrooms had long lines. Hotdogs cost way to much for just a plain weiener and bun. I also can't stand how quiet 22000 fans can be. Never could understand why the fans have to wait for something good to happen to get involved. Smaller schools like Wichita State and Xavier have fans that know how to affect a teams energy.

.

More spin away from the reality of our program.

Last year our 2 big games were both during Christmas break. Students were gone then as well.

What's worst is seeing this on TV, then switch to an NBA game. Even the Bobcats have more noise than in TBA. There was a time when NBA games were not crowd active. Give the NBA credit for coming up with marketing strategy to get the Fans involved.

Brian Williams that has to be you?!?!

His rant on twitter was awesome, I was dying laughing.

It's why I wish we'd downsize the arena and get students more involved, but that's not likely to happen anytime soon.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fans or interest level. The home schedule was garbage this year. Add Xavier's and Memphis' attendance totals last year and subtract our 2 low numbers and we are right with last years numbers.

Exactly. We have fair weather fans, ask Brian Williams!!!

I understand the sentiment, but any business which accepts the premise that it's customers are the problem is in trouble.

People can drag down Tennessee basketball fans all they want for not appreciating this coach or that coach or for being needing to be "sold", but two guys have proven that there is a way to get them excited. May be just a coincidence they used almost exactly the same blueprint.

Building on the original post, basketball attendance has been in a steady decline and down almost 5,000 per game since 2010. If the average concessions spending is $10, that's nearly $800,000 in foregone revenue.
