Rumors going around from a friend of mine who collected these from different sources.

- We are told that Fresno St and Western Kentucky should open anytime

- Providence will end its relationship with HC Keno Davis as soon as this weekend. Early names will
include Vermont HC Mike Lonergran, Fairfield HC Ed Cooley, Old Dominion HC Blaine Taylor, and TCU HC Jim Christian will try and get involved.

- We have been told that Auburn HC Tony Barbee would bounce if given the opportunity. Apparently he has butted heads with the administration

- We have it on good authority that Bradley will hire someone with DI head coaching experience. Could Keno Davis land on his feet at Bradley?

- Texas Tech has fired Pat Knight. Let the Billy Gillespie talk start... A “Get Gillispie” campaign, has been started by a group of Texas Tech students who have sported T-shirts with an Obama-esque visage of Billy Gillispie on the back accompanying the word “change,” in the
hope of persuading their school to pursue Gillispie.

- We have heard from a good source that both Oklahoma and Utah have reached out to
former Alabama HC Mark Gottfried to gauge his interest.Oklahoma HC Jeff Capel's buyout is the buyout is only slightly more than $2 million.

- Things do not look good in Baton Rouge for Trent Johnson

- We have heard that UAB HC Mike Davis would like to bounce if given an opportunity.

- We are told that Cincinnati HC Mick Cronin would make a strong push for the Arkansas job if it opens.

- Georgia Tech HC Paul Hewitt's contract will automatically renew on April 15, though he must
be given a month's notice if he is not to be retained. Thus: March 15 is the deadline.

- Florida Gulf Coast, one source says first call will be to Florida assistant Larry Shyatt. We hear that Creighton assistant Steve Merfeld is tight with the AD and will have a strong shot. Other names include Kansas assistant Danny Manning, Iowa assistant Kirk Speraw and Ohio St assistant Jeff Boals.

- Missouri HC Mike Anderson said he wanted to retire at Missouri

- We are told that Tennessee assistant Steve Forbes is looking to bounce ahead of any NCAA sanctions. Word is that he is interested in the Indian Hills and NW Florida JC jobs.

Hiring Gottfried is retarded.

Forbes? Even Pellissippi is too good of a job for him.

Rumor - Hewitt will be out and Tubby Smith will be considered.

Hmm. Tubby not having to go far to recruit would have to be a plus for him. He could rule Atlanta.

Interesting... In that same info I got it mentioned Tubby had no desire to leave Minn. At this point.

Also meant to add Sidney Lowe has been making inquiries to the NBA for assistant positions.

I think LSU would be making a mistake by parting ways with Trent Johnson.

I don't know about Trent Johnson. he did well with his inherited first team, but 11-20 for two years at LSU? Doesn't show me a lot, and I don't see a lot of hope for next year at Tiger U.

He has some good young players to build around. The team he inherited a few years ago was loaded with upperclassmen. I think he should at least have another year.

Don't get me wrong, as a Tennessee fan who has to play them every year I think LSU should keep him too.

bad - no one would take her seriously and the only recruits she would get would be recruits whose mothers forced them to commit to her.

I can say with pretty good certainty Mcdonald is gone at WKU.

Our sources have given us this update "LSU has 9 losses by 19 points or more this year and has 11 wins, Auburn which is under new direction this year has 11 wins also but only 2 loses by 19 points or more. Things do not look good in Baton Rouge."

- A little more detail on the LSU situation and the thought process behind possibly making a change.

Texas Tech update

I've heard a few things over the past day or so on the Texas Tech front. The successor to Pat Knight will definitely not be Nebraska head coach Doc Sadler. He was rumored to have interest at the begining of the week, but came out last night and said that he won't pursue the job. He was an assistant at TTU from 1991-94.

Another name that's created a "buzz" is Marquette head coach Buzz Williams. He has a great job right now at MU in the best conference in the country, but he is from a small town in Texas (Van Alstyne) and it sounds like he may be interested in returning home.

The other name creating a stir is Abeline, TX native and former Kentucky head coach Billy Gillispie. BCG has been the head coach at Texas-El Paso and Texas A&M and had success at both stops. He has also been a HS coach in the state, and also an assistant at Baylor, Texas State, and South Plains. It sounds like he is the front runner for now, unless Buzz tries to push hard for this one.

Thats a "kush" job for Billy to take in Lubbock. He'd have the support to allow for him to rebuild for a few years.

Other options I see for him are TCU and Arkansas.

I wish Billy the best wherever he goes, even if it turns out to be Lubbock.

On the other hand, he left Nevada absolutely loaded.

Mark Fox did more than Trent Johnson. Mark Fox was the key assistant adding players during Johnson's run at Nevada, and then loaded up the Nevada roster further on his own, bringing in 4 NBA draft picks over the next 4 recruiting classes.

Notably, Johnson hadn't made any kind of recruiting noise at Stanford without Mark Fox and hasn't made any kind of recruiting noise at LSU either, failing to land a player ranked above 85th in the consensus recruiting rankings the last 3 seasons. By contrast, Fox has Caldwell-Pope committed in the 2011 class for UGA.

Florida Gulf Coast AD graduated from BC in 1982... if a certain coach with ties to BC doesn't make it at current job because of an NCAA issue this could be a possible rebound job if this coach isn't hit too hard by the 'AA...

He'll have no shortage of rebuilding jobs available and for large dollars, depending upon type and duration of personal sanctions.
