Battle of Madison

This is the part where you become a moron. When all else fails start name calling.

Just remember you are an uneducated moron who has no clue what you are talking about and LG is all knowing and wise because he doesn't flip off MSNBC when the programming changes from Serta mattress sales to left-wing commentaries.

Overclaim much?

I didn't call him a moron. I said he'd be one if he did not understand that the GOP benefits from the expenditure of tax dollars working their way back from government cotracts to their supporters. I mean, I seriously cannot believe he doesn't understand that happens.

I don't know if anybody has pointed this out but the average WI K-12 teacher earns $89K in salary and in-kind. The average American private school teacher makes $61K. Kind of hard to imagine they would need to pay those WI teachers more.

not sure about those salaries...
My wife has worked in the WI public school system twice, and niether time was her salary close to $90k....

I didn't know government contractors existed to pilfer the coffers of the state. Interesting.

All liberal ideals are "rights" and all conservative ideals are racist. Didn't get the memo? :whistling:

Got it. Read it. Fed it to the dog. Stinkiest pile of turds that dog ever passed. Moral of the story: lib ideas don't pass the smell test.

I do not understand your comment. Are you suggesting that people who work for the government are under some sort of obligation to take less pay because it is borne by the taxpayers????

That's hilarious.

And its also incredibly inconsistent for conservatives to bemoan the fact that people who work for state and local government are lazy and shiftless, and then react with surprise that the quality of employee goes down, not up, when they insist on paying government employees less money.

You have some super naive vision of a the idle housewife deciding to become a teacher because she cares and wants to give back to the community. Teachers now have to earn a living, too. This ain't the 1950s anymore.

You want to guarantee mediocrity in the schools? Cut pay and benefits. Good job.

I'm on the side of the governor on this, but the conservative circle-jerk underway in this thread is nauseating.

Now THAT is funny!! :eek:lol:

As opposed to what, the stinking lib circle-jerk??

This sums up the situation nicely:

Wisconsin tax breaks to corporations 2010: $140bn

Current deficit: $137bn

Given the unemployment rates, and given what we know is underway world-wide - a crisis of capital accumulation being "corrected" by mergers, acquisitions, and the good ol' war against labor - those tax breaks did not add jobs or help the WI economy one little bit.

Republicans believe to their core the State is there to assemble capital for the Welfare-Dads. This is what they do, and they believe it, and as soon as they get power, they push it. You have to admire how absolutely they believe in the Welfare-Dads. The wishy-washiness of Obama Democrats is, frankly, uninspiring in contrast.

And as you see in WI, when the game is exposed, it is opposed by the super-majority, and rightly so.

Capitalism is at its end. Its crises cannot be corrected for much longer. Looking at oil production, it's like the Big Push from the Real World Outside the Back Door is coming sooner than anticipated. Currently, I believe we will descend into fascism as we don't have the structures, the culture, or the will to turn back to the Enlightenment. Certainly the controlling elite have not intention of doing that, and the rest of the culture, proletariatized, have no ability to fight them.

Given yet another apocalyptic movie coming out (out now?), it seems general culture is more than willing to let it play out in the crash-landing scenario. BOOM.

Republican leaders know exactly what they want: feudal-fascism, and when they get the keys to the legislature and run with it. Democrats don't even know what their base wants.

Wonder where the 140B came from. You make that up? For a guy that can't spell 10K, you did pretty quick math determining corporate net income and that due at the state level.

Have you considered what might happen to the revenue if there are no breaks offered? Your vacuum is probably comfortable, but would be more fun for everyone else if you took off the oxygen mask.

Good catch, BPV. Good to see you still on your toes.

It was millions, not billions. My bad. I'm so used to dealing with 10^9; 10^6 was so 1990s.

It's so predictable for those, like me, in tune with the real world outside the back door. Walker has given away $140million in order to engineer a crisis. He is trying to dismantle every convivial appendage of the state government - health, education, public utilities (another area where government is always more efficient). It's predictable, lamentable, and too damn funny.

And it is too damn funny to listen to how important those tax breaks are for corporate WI which added no jobs, made no serious investment. I love the mystifying triumphalism of neoliberal poppycock.

Recall him. Immediately. It will be fun.

Except the Governor et al manufactured this "crisis."

Deficit: $137million

Tax cuts enacted: $140million

usually you need a graduate degree and tenure to make that kind of money. the pension is where the teachers are really making out.

Well deserved pension considering the crap they have to put up with for the number of years they work to earn that pension.

ridiculous. no one "deserves" 80% of thier last years income and cost of living increases for the next 30 years in retirement.

No one deserves to be a billionaire by the same logic.

In fact, no one deserves an inheritance as well!

can't say i've seen anyone become a billionare by being paid by our taxpayers. i'm not shocked you can't see the difference though.

Aside from all the lunacy, you've still not learned the definition of "convivial".

More from the supermajority:

Much more detail on the fiscal "crisis" engineered by Walker et al:

Walker gins up ?crisis? to reward cronies

It is about providing for the Welfare-Dads. Has been with Republicans since Reagan.

from the second link (Your Progressive Voice?):

Wisconsin has better prospects for maintaining great schools
I hope the author realizes that only 34% of the students those great schools turn out can read on an acceptable level (despite spending the most of any surrounding state per student).
