Believe it. I kept the front section of the paper to show my family in Mo. and others here. They too couldnt believe it till I showed them. I doubt if the Daily Corinthian has a web site but you could look there if you dont believe it. Nov. 5th edition. :hi:

There was one in OK as well.

BTW, did anybody see the banner ad on the main forum? It's a guy standing there and underneath him it says "Wanna see me make 5k a month with my free government money?" That's classic!

as if affirmative action hasn't already been proven a unfair failure with university student admissions, they now wan the same failed standards applied to coaching vacancies....here's and idea, hire the best coach for your program that has the best chance of being successful regardless of race, not just because you're afraid of being sued for not hiring a minority coach

This already exists. How in the heck does Ty Willingham keep getting jobs? I'll tell you. Race. This guy has singlehandedly destroyed 3 storied programs in record time (ND, Stanford, UW).

This practice also almost killed Memphis basketball. Fire Larry Finch, you must hire a black. The names at the time were Ricardo Patton, Steve Robinson, and Tic Price. The best of these is mediocre at best. Of course Tic was hired and he subsequently had 3 losing seasons before getting caught running around with a female student. And she wasn't even hot - a ghetto queen.

1. The only place Stanford football is "storied" is Bizzaro world.
2. Who was the last coach to take them to the Rose Bowl?

How much better is Charlie Weis' record than Willingham's?

Overall Stanford's athletic program is a Top 5 program, in addition to being one of the premier Universities in the U.S. They could attract any coach they wanted to.

The football program usually has a few losing seasons, a couple of 8-4, 9-3 season a decade.

You have lost your effing mind.

In my opinion, this sums up the entire argument. In 2001 when I was applying for college, a white student had to score a 1360 on the SAT or 31 on the ACT, have a 3.75 GPA, and be in the top 10% of their high school class to get a pretty much full academic scholarship. A black person had to get an 1150, 25, 3.5, and top 25 %. Please explain to me how that is EQUAL RIGHTS? If you want to be equal fine, but how long are minorities going to keep whining and forcing us to overcompensate for them in this country before we can prove (to them) that racism is no longer an issue? While their arguments have had credence in the past, now it's nothing more than a stunt used to get their own way.

12 SEC football teams

At least 75% of the team's composition is the black athlete (just a guess)

0 Black head coaches.

It is simply too hard to justify those numbers....and I'm no affirmative action guy.

do you think say Turner Gill would have been a better hire than who MH chose?

Turner could not pull the staff that Lane is assembling. I would have put him ahead of the the other two coaches that have been hired in the SEC recently, and I would certainly put him ahead of Dabo.

Why do they call themselves African-Americans or Black? How many really have African roots? Why don't they call themselves AMERICAN.I never refer to myself as Cherokee-German-English.SHEESH!!!!!!!!!

At least 85% (more like 90-92) of the student population at SEC schools is white. Approximately 25% of the players on the football teams and 1% on the basketball teams have white players. So, what's the point? If these schools were truly racist, wouldn't the teams be more representative of their student populations?

Turner Gill is a great coach. However, he does not have any recruiting ties in the SE. He would be set up for failure at Auburn, UT, Clemson, etc. He should be considered for the Syracuse job. He has recruiting relationships up there and they truly have no where to go but up.

You're right. Who would want to go live in Southern California at an academic school with lower expectations while making seven figures?

Plus, they have a cool mascot.

Since when is Stanford in Southern California?

In most cases, coaches do not want to coach at a strong academic school. More difficult for them to recruit.
