Be Prepared: The backup plan at HC is Curt Cignetti

  • Curt & Dave Hart are good friends going back to their shared time at Alabama and due to their relationship Curt was able to secure an interview where I heard he crushed it.
  • Curt Cignetti is currently the Head Coach at IUP where he's gone 17-4 in his first 2 seasons as head coach. Curt is a very good coach and worked under Nick Saban as Alabama's recruiting coordinator laying the groundwork for 2 National Championship winning teams
  • Curt's younger brother Frank Cignetti is the QB coach of the NFL's St Louis Rams and will likely take over as Offensive Coordinator

Many will not like the possiblity of Curt Cignetti as the coach but with his background under Saban & coaching experience I think he may be a steal of a hire.:salute:

jog my memory, but the saban lineage has not done much for us other than make for plenty of jokes regarding sunseri. this gets worse by the hour

Sounds like another Dooley. Never been a coordinator, only a position coach, then jumped right in as a head coach. Yeah, he has a good winning percentage but he's not even doing it at a FBS school. This would not be a good decision by Hart.

Oh my. He might have potential, but I don't know how we can sell recruits on this guy.

He sounds better than some of the guys on the list. He does not have the experience of Fedora or Strong, but he might do OK in a pinch. I don't think we will have to go that far. If we do, we are in deep trouble.

He only has 2 years of Head Coaching experience but he has served under the staffs of some good coaches and actually cut his teeth in the sport unlike DD.

Dooley never had a specific side of the ball he knows how to coach or develop, thats because he simply hopped into coaching as an ode to his father after finishing school.

Cignetti on the other hand is clearly a coach who knows something about offense considering he was a QB coach for 22 years up until Saban gave him a job coaching WR's and as their recruiting coordinator. He turned that into a head coaching position in a non-glamorous way by going to Division II to gain experience building a program and he has been very successful so far.

IUP? What the Heck? Why don't we just hire the hot dog vendor in Section R. He was there for Fulmer, Kiffin, and Dooley. Knows a lot about UT Football.
