I don't really buy into the whole "awards" thing. It's great and all and it might get me to try a beer that say won GABF Gold, but doesn't mean it is "the best"...only "the best" of the ones that were there based on the opinions. This year in particular there were so many breweries left out. It is fun to read and try the award winners, but mostly it is hype.

pisgah brewing red devil and pisgah nitro stout are good. been enjoying them this year.

I also like foothills brewing Sexual Chocolate is good, hard to get.

didn't think u liked the asheville brews? :) pisgah does a nice job. have an incredible music venue as well.

wicked weed orange saison is decent. if I had a choice I'd roll with The Wedge's Imperial Stout, they've got some decent IPA's as well.

Wedge doesn't seem to care about branching out. Seems to be a double edged sword. They're a popular "secret" but have to drive all the way across town to river arts to drink there.

Neither brewery is in Asheville.

Haha, really been wanting some Wicked Weed beers, their reputation is growing.

pisgah = BM but i consider that asheville since its 5 min from my house.

wedge and WW def two of my favs. def recommend checking them out.

rumor has it WW is going to start distributing

That's awesome, I stayed in Black Mountain at Mitchell View at High Rock. Had a blast while I was there.

got a 12 pack of Sam Adams Octoberfest in cans the other day (to pour into my glass Tennessee Beer mug). Drank one while watching Walking dead

Halloween beers...

Robinson Brewery "Trooper." Iron Maiden inspired English ale. Very good.

Rogue "Dead Guy Ale." Yeah, I like this and will get it often.

"The Poet" from some brewery. It was an oatmeal stout. Tasted like every other oatmeal stout. I liked it.

Deschutes "Black Butte Porter." Every time I see it I drink it.

There might be another that I missed... if I didn't remember it then it was pretty boring.

All-in-all, I haven't had much to drink in a long time so I'm quite toasty. I can still ride a bike in a straight line!

Got another fill of southern tier live. Very good pale ale. Borders an ipa, it's very hoppy. Very good if you ever come across it.
