Beer (and beer pics!)

Unless you're talking about Crooked Stave. I was a Cellar Reserve member for 2 years before they ended it. My brother lives in Denver so I still get some shipped from time to time.

Talking about both, I guess. I love TN, but the selection is pretty poor.
I always think the same, but then I realize I suffer from Grass is Greener syndrome. Unless we are talking about sours, then yeah, the selection sucks. At least Yazoo is pumping out a few and some BA beers are popping up at several breweries in Middle and West TN. I can't think of any in the east.

I do love the breweries in the area. I'm glad they're raising the beer cap as well. Never understood that with TN being so much smaller than the neighboring states.

Besides, if I want to get different beer, Atlanta isn't too far away. :)

There is def. a "grass is greener" deal going on. Tennessee, at least middle TN, has a good beer selection. I still bring back stuff on my travels that I can get at home, but with the fact it seems new breweries are distributing here every month added with what is being brewed locally, the selection here for craft beer drinkers is at an all time high. I can go get a different beer every week and barely put a dent in what is available. Yazoo ETF, Cool Springs Brewery, Wiseacre, Black Abbey are all putting out stellar stuff just to name a few local (we finally get Wiseacre locally!). Add in Huntsville and I think we are sitting pretty.

BTW 926...if you ever need to rid yourself of some of that Crooked Stave laying around, I'm your guy ;)

We should really have a bottle share sometime considering how much we've talked either here or BA. We also seem to share similar taste in beer.

I have breakfast stout sitting at home; I'm excited about that one. I generally like everything of tried of Founder's.

Also a bomber of sofie, which is one of my favorite beers at the moment.

Absolutely. If you ever come thru the Franklin area, I'll set a bottle share up with the local crew. The scene in Nashville has really exploded since I've started getting into it. Used to be we would have bigger bottle shares because the "group" was smaller. Now that so many have joined in, there tends to be smaller, more "local" ones...like Franklin, East Nashville, etc.

I've been lucky enough to be pretty tight with rhizome productions and met alot of folks thru just working all the events, which imo, are the best in this area.

Speaking of Rhizome events...have you heard of the Nuit Belge event? A belgium beer and foodie event with many of the best restaurants in Nashville participating.

They are also doing a Beer Bus trip to Asheville at the end of January that I'm going on. Tours of Funkatorium, Sierra Nevada, Pisgah with catered meal among the highlights. $350 (cheaper the more that share a room) and it includes transportation and 2 nights hotel. Really excited about it.

I thought Blackstone's Barista Stout was very good. I saw it in Franklin right before New Years in growlers.

Sierra Neveda's Ninkasi Double Latte Beer Camp collection was great as well. Wish you could find those easier.

I'm still finishing off the rest of the Beer Camp 12 pack. The demand for that was crazy considering, imo, that they are mostly just solid, but not stellar beers. Like the concept though.

Jesus...the Barista Stout is also in bottles. Still plenty on shelves. If you come back thru Franklin, def. stop at Red Dog. My favorite bottle shop in Nashville.

Yeah I saw them in bottles when I was running around Franklin right before New Years, it was the first time I'd seen them bottled up. I stocked up for NY and went to Red Dog, The place by Academy Sports (Woody's I think), and the one next to While Foods (No Idea on the name). I'm in the area fairly regularly, I live in Hickman Co. Near Fairview and 840 opening made it significantly quicker getting there Vs. Taking 96.

I haven't been to Red Dog. I was at Craft Brewed in Nashville last week and I really like it.

Sounds like a great event but I'm not a foodie, just give me some pizza or steak. I've thought about the Brew Bus, but that would be an added 2.5 hours for me one way.

I randomly stumbled in that place one day waiting for the Smiling Elephant to open. I like it. I actually read this morning on facebook where they were voted in the top 100 beer stores in America by someone.

Don't get me wrong...Craft Brewed is great. Bunch of them are part of the bigger beer group here, so shared many a bottle with them. Plus you can get a pint there. But for me, Red Dog is easier to get in and out of, and because it is in Franklin, it is very close for me. Great growler station as well. Bickham is the main beer guy there. Great guy and really knows his stuff.

I did the brew bus to Calfkiller and it was a blast. This is the second time they took a trip to Asheville. Missed the first one, so when this popped up, my wife (the world's greatest beer wife) got me a ticket because the last time I went to Asheville for a beer trip, I spent the whole time in bed sick there.

I'm horrible with geography...had no idea where Hickman county was much less being that close to franklin ;)

The one by whole foods is Bottle Shop at McEwen. Same family as Red Dog, but not as good of a beer selection. Will be interesting to see what happens with places like Woody's now that a Red Dog can sell low gravity and you don't have to come out of is smelling like bad cigar smoke.

Yeah I'm over by Dickson, so not too bad of a drive. Red Dog definitely had the best selection of the three. I think I had seen where you mentioned it here and that's the only reason I knew it was there to try out. I rarely go to that side of Franklin when I'm there.
