Beer (and beer pics!)

I believe it's year round. They actually just announced they're expanding to a new location solely to increase the production of it. I don't believe they distribute out of state. I just recently found it in Kroger, and it's almost always gone. They seem to be the only chain store that has it.

Thanks. We make a trip to Charleston every summer, and last year, I found a beer store in Augusta and got some things that I can't get. I would like to try some Creature Comforts but have never found any. I will have to keep looking.

I found it on my last golf trip to Reynolds Plantation, which is 30 miles south of Athens. I think it was at a Publix grocery store, but a restaurant also had it on tap.

Has anyone tried the Bearded Iris brews out of Nashville yet? Attention Please is a deliciously smooth DIPA with a unique tropical twang.
Been to Bearded Iris several times, love the brewery. Great IPAs for sure, pretty much a can't miss.
I had that one the other day as well and liked it. Their brewery is nice, but I walked in to a super hipster open mic slam poetry night when I went. I heard a poem about being raped and having an abortion in the few minutes I was inside, so I had my beer outside.
Like I said, I've been several times but no events on those days. That does sound horrible though. If you can tell by my avatar, I spend most of my time in Nashville at Southern Grist.

Finally had Pliny the Younger by Russian River Brewing - my personal Moby Dick. Very good triple IPA, but way overhyped.

I have wanted to try this for years, but was not willing to stand in line at the brewery for 8-12 hours and did not luck out on being at one of their accounts when they tapped a keg. Today was my 6th attempt in the last week and a half and I finally succeeded.
Same here with PtY. Never had it and was once my biggest want. After being mildly disappointed by PtE, mainly because of rampant hype, I decided to drop that pursuit. But if I lived in an area that had accounts, I would definitely seek it out just for the tick.

Iowa Brewing's Whiskey BA Oja Baltic Porter and Exile's Jesus on a Coconut Imp. Stout so far tonight. Next up Sixpoint Lil' Raspy Raspberry Sour.

My favorite beer is a Scottish Ale called Old Chub (it comes only in green and white cans). I don't normally even drink much beer but Old Chub is the stuff... Smooth as a baby's butt with a rich and sweet flavor and a light nutty after taste.... and most importantly - STRONG (8% alcohol by volume).

The problem is, I can't find it in Knoxville and I've looked everywhere. The Old World Market in Turkey Creek carries a lot of nice beer, including Rogue Dead Guy Ale but not Old Chub. You would think that Carolina Ale House would carry it... but no. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen it in K-Town?

Although I don't live in Knoxville, it can't be very difficult to find. Old Chub is Oskar Blues, which is just across the state line in Asheville. I can find plenty of that here in west TN.

I believe they have it at Farragut Wine and Spirits, or maybe Dixie Lee. I know I've seen it multiple times. The G'Night and Ten Fidy are excellent, as well.

My guess is that you can find it at McScrooge's.

Going to be in knoxville this weekend. Any suggestions for breweries to visit or bars with a nice beer selection?

Crafty Bastard, Alliance, and Last Days of Autumn are probably my favorites. Pretentious isn't serving their own yet, I don't think, but they have a great selection and they own a glass blowing company which is right next door that you can get a beer and watch glass being blown.

Saw Works is also pretty good.

Thanks. My lady friend is temporarily working in knoxville and i was coming in to take her out for the weekend. Im sure we'll hit em all. Any suggestions for bars with food?

Clancy's downtown for an Irish bar with good food. I would suggest checking out the bar at the Oliver also, because it's pretty sweet. There's a lot of good spots in Market Square...Stock and Barrel is amazing but pretty tough to get in at peak hours. For something a little more upscale...my brother-in-law owns a new place called JC Holdway on the corner of Union and Walnut. Have to have a reservation, but it's totally worth it. The food is crazy good.
