Beer (and beer pics!)

It's getting easier; Tropicalia and Athena are all over the place now. I missed out on the Cosmik Debris release last year - I've been hunting it ever since.

It didn't disappoint!

There's another local ATL brewer that's freakin' fantastic; dare I say they are better than Creature.

Scofflaw Brewery. Their Basement IPA is masterful.

Had some of this years Cosmik Debris as well. Delicious!

Scofflaw is pretty damn good. The place I work at has had their Basement IPA on tap the last couple of months. We're doing a "Tap Takeover" with them June 1st. Their Double Jeopardy Double IPA is excellent as well.

Thought some of you would find this interesting. The beer tax in TN is outrageous.

https://www.fool.com/investing/gene...s-states-for-beer-lovers-youll-never-gue.aspx

Yep. The gap was getting worse per year because of the way the excise tax was in ingredients I believe. So as the cost to brew beer increased, so did the tax. I believe legislators put a stop to that a few years ago but at the same level that was significantly higher than the next worst state which I believe at the time was Alaska.

Have been on a tour through Savannah, St. Augustine, Fort Lauderdale, and am in Key West now. The only thing I've had that I would consider noteworthy was Coppertail's Purple Drank; it was quite good.

purple drank is good but Civil Society off Exit 83 on 95 is the best brewery in So Fla, and it aint close

I forgot about a few by 3 Sons that were pretty good as well, Boysen the Hood and Hypnotize Minds.

3 sons is outstanding right across from my house at Brass Tap, they have the head brewer there and its called Flagler Village brewery, check um out if u get the chance

us 1 and 6th - fort lauderdale

A few updates from my last haul

Angry chair - thought process, faithful sinner, and space grass

Finback - all 3rd year anniversary brews

Trillium- a new six for me

Civil society - juice

I haven't had a whole lot from down there, but from my experience, you were on the wrong coast. Tampa has the better beer selection.

its debatable, Cycle, Angry Chair, 7th suns, Green bench are all outstanding even the Cigar city (and meadery) stuff can have a great menu (we did the Eggs and Kegs brunch it was cool), but i prefer the East coast, they are getting more of the NE unfiltered stuff I personally prefer

to each they own though

To be fair, I haven't had much on the east coast and probably haven't experienced enough to opine on it. My wife's family is from Miami. I have been down there and didn't drink much that excited me.

I fell in love with Cigar City a couple of years ago and would consider it one of my favorite craft breweries. I know they are branching out more with a new distribution agreement, but we can't get it in Memphis, so it's still an "adventure" for me. That puts Tampa on top for me, and I know that Angry Chair is blowing up. I have also had a few from Tampa Bay Brewing and 3Daughters that were ok. I just can't get down there enough to try the small breweries.

I totally get that, if in Miami next time check out Wynwood Area, its been fully gentrified and has Wynwood Brewing, Concrete Beach (meh and blah), J Wakefield who is prolly the best there and most asked about for trades etc.
Also a few craft Bars that are out of this world, Boxeldr and Kush, if you get by the Marlins stadium go to Union Beer Store in Calle Ocho its amazing
Lots of exclusive bottles from places like Other Half, Mckkeler, Ballast, GRIMM, SingleCut etc

If in Fort Lauderdale again, hit Laser Wolf, Mack House, Tap 42 or even Brass tap

Fort laudy and boca Breweries worth a try: funky Buddha, LauderALE, Koefner, Banging Banjo, Due South, 26 Degrees
If you get up by West Palm you have Civil Society, my personal Fav, Twisted Trunk, Tequsta just to name a few

I wanted to check out the Wynwood area when I was in Miami a couple of years ago, but I had too many Mojitos in Little Cuba so I didn't make it.
