Being a Tennessee fan can be draining lol

Not the same thing. The '22 baseball team was dominate until that series against Notre Dame. Team statistically had the best odds of winning a Natty. The '23 baseball team was talented but would lose routinely to the '22 version hence the frustration associated with that Notre Dame loss. I was surprised and enjoyed the CWS experience last year but did not have expectations that TN would win it all.

That is what is so frustrating. When TN appears to have the talent edge we never seem to capitalize on it in any sport to win a Natty. Yes, we are competitive and very good in many sports with upsets that raise our fan expectations.

Who gives a crap about regular seasons. Makes a stinking Final Four for once. Our program can't seem to do that when Butler (a school that is 1/20th the size and 1/50 the budget did it twice recently)

So many epic post season/critical game collapses

South Carolina and Georgia 2022 in Football

Notre Dame Super Regionals lost in Baseball

Softball CWS against Arizona with Monica Abbott

Multiple College Basketball Marches

Seems like we have a hard time winning at the highest level unlike other programs in the SEC: (Alabama football for example).

Still Go Vols and hopefully we learn from this loss and make noise next week.

Got embarrassed and humiliated by a nine seed, nearly run out of the gym trailing by 22 at one point in time, had 19 points at halftime, even with a 30 second clock, team couldn't score 1 point a minute in the first half, Barnes never bothered to call time out and reset the team, reset the offense, set up a scoring play, had no answers for the double teams, had no screens to free the shooters, had no answers for the wholesale lack of productivity, points and leadership from 5th year seniors, this disaster today in Nashville was simply a mail it in from Barnes, staff and team, lost by 5 in Starkville back in January, were simply non competitive losing by 17 in March against the same team on a neutral floor, essential facts are sitting in the stats from today's collapse and should be expected to be a precursor to the looming disaster coming in the round of 32 or the round of 16 assuming we can get there this time, tournament success is for gamers, gamblers and coaches that can get the maximum effort out of their team or face elimination, particularly when the bright lights and the cameras are on, the stakes are high and the chance to win against a team you previously lost to is on the table. Tennessee as a one seed in the SEC and NCAA tournament is laughable now, bad day at the office in Nashville today, the things that did not get fixed during the regular season came at a very high price today. There is no narrative, simply inexcusable and somewhat predictable program failure at the highest level today.
Bro you need to stop watching basketball. I don't think you have the heart for it.

Also, look at how many other high seeds have lost in their conference tournaments :

Arizona lost to Oregon
Purdue lost to Wisconsin
Kentucky lost to Texas A&M
Duke lost to NC State
Houston lost to Iowa State
North Carolina lost to NC State

I just can't bring myself to believe that losing in a conference tournament is a big deal. The Selection Committee does not seem to care either.
Wonder if the imbeciles will think all those teams on the left had mediocre seasons. They didn't win the conference tournament, some of them got their asses kicked like we did.

I care. I'm proud of Tennessee for winning the 2024 SEC Championship .... and you don't get into the damn freaking NCAA Tournament in the first place, without a good regular season.

Houston lost by an even larger margin than we did .... and they are probably the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament .... Although, it could be UConn now. We'll see.

So do we wanna be in UConn's bracket or Houston's? I vote Houston's, just not been overly impressed with them this year.

The top overall seed rarely wins the CWS.

Wrong. You could actually go 0-28 and win your Conference Tournament and make it to the NCAA Tournament.

True ...

Practically speaking, however, such occurrences are rare ... but I am well aware of cases like Georgia in 2009.

I will still take pride in Tennessee winning the 2024 SEC Regular Season Championship. You don't speak for every Tennessee fan, when you say, "Who gives a crap?"

A lot of people give a few craps clearly based on us being in the top 10 in attendance year after year.

The 30~ game regular season journey is fun and exciting when the team is good. It’s fun watching our team survive the rigors of a strong conference and come out on top. It’s fun winning at Kentucky. It’s fun sweeping Alabama. Hard to imagine that any “fan” wouldn’t appreciate those things.

This national championship or bust mentality is so ignorant. It's possible to have a great year without winning it all. I mean we want that to happen but it's still a fun ride.

No one is asking for a National Championship, they are just asking for an Elite 8 or Final Four for once or to not lose to a #9 seed as a #1 seed in the tournament.

You know like beating a #9 Florida Atlantic last year who went further than Tennessee has. It ******* Sunbelt teams can do it, why can't Tennessee as a program? There are 50-60 schools that have made Final Four, Tennessee isn't one of them.

I don't think it is that hard to ask when teams like George Mason, Loyola, Butler, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, etc. have all made a Final Four.

It’s beyond ignorant, but I wouldn’t expect any different as it’s mostly the usual suspects who only show up after losses spouting it. It’s again bringing the football mentality to basketball which is like comparing apples to oranges.

I want a deep run in March bad. I may be one of the few who wants a Final Four way way more than I will ever want a CFP appearance. It’s unreasonable to judge a season based on if we reach the F4, though. I say we should all enjoy and appreciate having a basketball program that lives inside the top 20 rankings year after year and is always in the mix for a conference title. Those are things that should never be taken for granted here.

1. You don’t think a Final Four is that hard to ask? Wow, that’s a hot take.

2. Florida Gulf Coast has never gone to a Final Four. They lost in the Sweet Sixteen.

When Sunbelt and Mid-Majors can do it, it doesn't seem hard. Butler did it back to back years. BUTLER. You would think an SEC school with 200x the money could do it.

You must be the guy at work that has been there 10-15 years and has all this experience but get punked by a new associate off the street because that is the equivalent of what schools like Butler or George Mason, etc. are doing to Tennessee.

LOL Come on. No one with enough intelligence to fill a shot glass makes assumptions about a poster’s professional success based on their opinions on sports. Keep it to sports.

My opinion is one founded in rationality. Yes, there have been some flukey runs by teams that were not one of the best four teams. That’s part of basketball. Is it incredible that we’ve never once made a Final Four? Yes, it is. But saying it isn’t too hard is ludicrous and grading a coach and a season based primarily on what transpires in a single elimination tournament is also ludicrous.

I never said anything about firing Barnes, in fact the opposite. My point is that it is very frustrating and hard being a Vols fan, moreso than other programs. Tennessee rips at you. I don't see the same, constant, sanity inducing chokes with our rivals for example.
