Ole Miss is rumored to be after Alabama defensive coordinator, Pete Golding. Alabama's next defensive coordinator could be Jeremy Pruitt. Stranger things have happened.

Link to an Alabama website I read... Alabama Football: Pete Golding to Ole Miss rumors (bamahammer.com)

disclaimer: I am an Alabama graduate. Not trying to stir up trouble. Just some info that may be of interest to the Vol community.

Hope you get him. Now that paying players is legal, you should not have any problem (other than crappy coaching).

JP is a headed for a show-cause penalty, so why would Bama even go there? Seriously, there are better choices out there. Does JP have the goods on Ole Nick?
IKR Pruitt is terrible..but either what he did was serious (and it took 2 and a half years of investigation and everyone’s time) or now it’s not.. and UT should be exonerated and maybe even given an apology (like that will happen) lol

Only problem with hiring Pruitt is the NCAA may hit him with a show cause. In fact they should. Saban doesn’t have Emmert there to fix that. However rules have never stopped Nick before.

Hate him or not he’s got a helluva track record as a DC. Tons of coordinators are trash head coaches, he isn’t alone. He will coach somewhere again.
He definitely has a ceiling, that is for sure.. I don’t think he is the fix-it-all that Bammers think he is though..but him being there may give him ideas about taking over and that would be awesome bwahahaha.. he is just the right mixture of ambition and dummy to do it

In the one place where he didn't have multiple NFL players all over the defense, his defenses were average at best...

See giving up 38 points to Georgia State

I’m with you. he does well with superior athletes but his development eh.. Bama reels in the five stars and that is probably the line of thinking for their fans.. I just really really dislike him lol

Their defense hasn’t been the same since he left. It was very good at the time.

Pruitt has never been proven terrible as anything but being a head coach.. he is a really good DC

Did you see the players they had?

And he definitely wasn’t afraid to divvy out the cash…….before it was cool to openly do so.

His D’s here were GARBAGE. Heupel’s Teams have had better D’s.

So was it skill? Or was it talent level around him?

True, but the game Alabama plays has also changed-or at least it was that way the last five years. Those recent Bama teams have been able to light up a scoreboard.

Who is the next QB at Bama now that BY is gone? That Mallick kid? Based on what I saw of him this year, Bama may very well need a lockdown D to have any hope.

Is he though?

Considering the talent he had to work with under Saban & Richt, I’m not sure how you could field a bad defense.

His defenses here were nothing special.
