What does UNC have to lose with this potential hire? I’m surprised BB has interest but I don’t see the downside for a middlin’ ACC program.

Off the top of my head, recruiting. BB can't have a relationship with high school coaches at this point nor can I see him kissing enough butt to establish relationships.

Sure, he's got rings but the guy reeks of old school authoritarian coach coming into the NIL and portal landscape.

Honestly, a lot about him reminds me of Bear Bryant without the drawl and I think those kinds of coaches are done in college.

Seared in my brain is some medical text from undergrad in which a urologist said it's nearly impossible to differentiate appearances between the penises of an 80 year old and an 18 year old.

Which means you might not look any more virile than Bill Belichick right now. Maybe less. 😉

If that somehow happened, it's going to end up like Bill Walsh's second act at Stanford. He will shoot out the lights for a year, outcoach himself into a few big wins and an impressive record, and then it will fall apart because he won't want to recruit or do any of the other things a college head coach has to do.

And according to the most compelling rumor to date, which comes via Ollie Connolly of The Guardian, the 72-year-old coach, who will be 73 by the time the college football season kicks off, has agreed to coach for UNC and presented the school with a 400-page "organizational bible" that contains a set of demands that he is "unwilling to negotiate."

Per Connolly, Belichick's bible, which he has shared with other college and pro teams but customized specifically for the UNC position, contains "structure, payment plans, staffing choices and salary minimums position by positions" that "would require historic levels of investment from the school."

Bill Belichick is basically saying: College football is pro football now and I know how to run a pro football team.

He might be about 4-5 years too early but it won't be long until his "Bible" becomes relevant for schools.
