Can Jeff Monken recruit at UNC? It’s a a lot different at the P4 level than at West Point or GA Southern. How about Glenn Schumann or Freddie Kitchens? Neither has ever been a head coach at any level. Can they recruit at the level needed and manage a roster? What about Steve Wilks? He’s never been a head coach in college before. Those are four candidates who have been mentioned as being in play for UNC if the Belichick deals falls through.

He's just doing it so he can step down in a few years and his son take the job. If I was a UNC fan I would be livid.

Kitchens was a head coach at Cleveland, yeah I know Cleveland but he has still been a head coach.

If he's selling kids on preparing them in an NFL environment for the next level, there's a chance he could recruit very well. I get the feeling that he can deal with all the NIL and portal bullschiit after being in the NFL as long as he has, and as prepared as he has always been, I'd be very surprised if he didn't come into this with a good idea of what he was getting into.

His son was the DC at Washington, and will very likely be coming to NC as part of his staff.

I think Bill will be little more than a name and a CEO style coach. IMO, he's doing this primarily to work with his son and set him up.

As quickly as possible, Bill is out.

Which makes this an even more of a questionable hire. Almost all of his coaching experience was for his daddy. If he's qualified why does his daddy have to get him the job?
