Bench Maymon

Hindsight is 20/20.

Anyone saying they would have made the easy call and pulled him during the game is either dishonest or nutso

Lol right because after sooo many turnovers during some part of the game he was going to turn it around. You can call it dishonest or nuts but at some point during the game you can tell when a player just doesn't have it that day.

Maymon is playing winning basketball

Did you even watch the game? When nobody defends and everybody just waits for rebounds. There were at least 4 occasions where an easy pass was made to him and he couldn't even catch it or control it. Yes.. He's come back from a bad injury but if you can't catch the ball. I don't know what to say.

Tooooo much of a liability out there. Missed gimmies... turnovers... missed free throws.

Thanks for your service. Time for AJ Davis to get those minutes.

He'll still be a big part of our rotation... we'll need him to sub for davis and stokes.

Good recipe for tanking the rest of the season.

Fyi... I created this thread a few weeks ago... bumped it because of his repeat performance.

Love Maymon... but we have to find a way to limit his time/touches on the offensive side of the court. I don't know the solution but damn Martin gets paid literally MILLIONS of dollars to figure it out.

He's pretty bad. Bless his heart, tho.

Maymon should still start since he is a fierce rebounder but Davis and Pops should be used to give Maymon a couple of breathers every game.

Maymon should start the rest of the season but last night they might should have benched sometime during the game IMO. Not sure he wasn't hurting more than he was helping us.

For who exactly? AJ will be center stage next year.

I am not making excuses for him at all, but I have a hard time believing he wasn't at least given word sometime during the game about his old coach/principal having a heart attack b4 the game. He has had his struggles this year but last night almost seemed like his mind was somewhere else at time. JMO

He'll back up Cofer.
Unless he learns how to rebound in the off season.

This!

Davis doesn't currently have the body or mentality to play big boy SEC post. CCM should have red shirted him. IMO if he doesn't commit to becoming a post player, he'll have a disappointing career similar to swiper boy.

Hopefully he'll be a late bloomer like his pop.

Of course I said the same thing about swiperboy for 2.5 years. lol

Possibly, but I say AJ will be center stage because he'll be the one with the experience. Now I'm with you in your thinking that Cofer might be better, but he'll be a FR. If Davis wants this he'll do what he has to do and take it over. This will be like the transition from the 10-11 season to the 11-12 season. We lose our top 2 scorers and some folks are going to get more minutes and opportunities. Golden and Maymon shot up the charts that year. Can Richardson, Hubbs, Thompson, Davis do the same? But here's the guy that we SHOULD be depending on. Ndiaye! What gives? 6'10 275lbs. Dude should be a force to reckon with. He's like a babe in the woods. Come on man!

lol! You cant sit a guy who is third in scoring and second in rebounds unless you have a viable option. Now, I'm all ears. WHO would you sit him for? Wait! I'll put myself in your shoes for a minute and ponder. Uhhhhmmm.....we have a 6'10 275lb guy sitting the bench. Now, we may have our brand of Chuck Nevitt going on here...wont be the first case or the last. Dadgummit I would clear this bench if I was coach. I'd clear it. Cuonzo HAS to get smarter about who he brings in. If you are that big I will work with you but you'd better do more than cast a big shadow.

you sit players when they need to sit. It's not that complicated. When a guy is off, his body language sucks and you have 2 pts and are headed past 5 turnovers, you try something different to win that game. Regroup at practice, mentally coach him up, then get him back out there next game. Teach him how to respond and put a bad game behind him.
Every basketball player has had those games. You know it's bad. Trying harder seems to make it worse. Sometimes it's best to sit down and pull for your team when you are off.
You won't win many games with that stat line from a key player. getting 0's in the stat line are better.

Agree. The blanket statement, "Bench Maymon.", is a little over the top, but for that game, another option should have been explored, at the very least.
