Bernie Sanders Thread

I really don't understand the disdain over Cruz. He has spent his entire public career fighting the federal lack of respect for the constitution, ran for national office vowing to support the constitution (rather than the 'good ole boy' club) and has done that.
I understand the disdain. He represents a threat to the entrenched system, so both parties and the willing press marginalize his candidacy and portray him as a crazy loon, just like they did to Ron Paul. Most people will believe what the press is saying. without actually listening to a candidate.

I have listened to Cruz. I have read his policies. He is a loon, imo. I would not vote for him to be our neighborhood dog catcher. His base consist entirely of the far, far right wing which would be disastrous for our nation if in charge, just as bad as the far, far left wing would be.

Why is any who is conservative far right wing? That term is meant to scare people by the dems...

I watched him in 2 Texas Senate debates. He doesn't scare me any. What scares me is what has been happening the last 20-30 years.

I figured you'd like Cruz since there are times when he sounds like a theocrat cut from the same cloth as Rick Santorum.

Being conservative does not make one be far right wing.

The term is not meant to scare dems, it is meant to classify the extremist on the right, same as thw term "far left wing" classifies the extremist on the left.

Does anyone still believe anything these candidates say in a campaign? From Cruz to Sanders and everyone in between, I don't trust anything they say.

Didn't you mean to say 'has been' rather than 'would be.'

I have a couple of friends who want to vote sanders but I can't understand why anyone on the left would choose sanders over Clinton at least from a strategic standpoint. The strongest candidate from a clear cut standpoint vs someone who actually admits to applying socialism (which I don't have a problem with) which Republicans will have a field day campaigning against!

This guys name just puts visions in my head of a cross between Bernie Taupin and Col. Sanders. Or Bernard King and Deion Sanders.

Can't speak for your friends, but to me, Sanders is appealing because I think he's proven over time to be someone who will fight against the big money guys in politics. Hillary just falls in with the rest of the crowd.

No I meant would be. To my knowledge the far right wing nor far left wing has been in charge of our country.

In my opinion the current administration bending the constitution and laws (sometimes breaking) toward a socialist agenda indicates far left wing.
