Best possible DC available?

I'm not saying he's even a possibility, but if you would take John Jancek over Chavis, we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

I would take Chavis at this point except for his mustang package, and being conservative. I want to see turnovers, and tons of them!

I'm not trying to kick a dead horse, but I was at the Ridgeland game tonight in North Georgia and spoke to Lance Thompson who was there recruiting Vonn Bell....he disagreed with the hire and endorsed Kirby Smart and also said we should have offered him the DC job when we had the chance....it had me thinking, who is the best possible candidate out there (realistically)? Would anyone ever consider a guy like Thompson?

Sour grapes?

Talk about an all-star.....lol

Did anyone know any of BJ's staff before he was hired?

Tiny Richardson did not even know who Butch Jones was when they hired him!!!

I'm sure CBJ knows this, but his staff has to be top-level recruiters, period.

I'm sure that like many of you, I was impressed with CBJs press conference.

I am very disturbed, however, that it seems as if he "turned over every stone" pretty darn quickly in assembling the "nation's best" staff. And, surprise surprise, as it turns out, most of America's finest coaches just happened to be coaching in the Big Least at Cincinnati. Maybe it was sleep deprivation, maybe he was scripted to say that, but either way it was less than honest. Not a good move imo.

Your wrong he had 12 other games that year where clemson had to outscore to win, but other than his clemson tenure don't know much more.

After he was let go, it came out that Steele had some kind of issue that entire year. Players said he was using signals to call in plays that made no sense. They said it was like he was using calls from where he had worked elsewhere. I would be really hesitant to hire Steele unless I understood what had happened and knew it would not re-occur.

Wasn't steele dc for clemsux when w.v. Hung 70.
I wouldn't mind Ellis Johnson he is a hell of a dc and knows the sec well plus a good recruiter. Wouldn't suprise me if he ends up here or somewhere else in the sec

Did butch jones get destroyed by Dooley? Yea one game dont matter and you're all up on BJ's d!ck

Since it looks like he's bringing all the Cincy coaches maybe Tubbs can be our DC

I keep in touch with my friends from grad school at Clemson, one of which was a student manager when I was there and is still in some role because I see him on the sidelines every game, and it was rumored that he might have suffered a mini-stroke before the WV game because of the calls he was making. As you said, they were calls/formations that were not in Clemson's playbook.

So are you thanking him for not being here or you still wish you had dooley as HC. Who would you want
If we had a decent defense, we are all looking at Dooley in a different light. Sal sunk Dooley, and seeing that it was Dooley's hire...then he deserves the boot all the more.

Yeah I'm sure he actually told you that. These coaches are professionals who just don't tell any random joe blow there opinions.

The best staffs work together. Often all-star staffs have conflict especially when one or two become primary donnas. Also it seems CBJ is looking at the long-term to keep staff.
