motivation is required to help create momentum... we need to create momentum. this team needs help getting motivated. i think playing with something to prove can provide the extra incentive the team needs to play up to their potential.

I'm sure you've played sports before, and if so, you know that before every game every player is fired up jumping up and down etc etc. All of that goes away once you start becoming fatigued, once the ball hits the floor and 5 minutes go by.... Great coaches know this, which is why if you heard the Alabama players after the NC game (football) they said that Saban chewed them out for jumping up and down and trying to get "motivated" because it wasted energy.... motivation is highly highly overrated when you are talking about ncaa tournament... Now, when talking about a game where one team will be more motivated than another then yes, motivation works. But the fact that you think SDSU won't be equally motivated is ridiculous... And tell me, when have you seen "motivation" positively affect UT athletics? Wasn't the theme before the 2005 football season "Unfinished business?" and how did our motivation work last year, or even this year in the SEC tournament?

looking to conjure up how this can work to our benefit.... in the past we have struggled against teams that aren't very good... so put us in a region with great teams, and we will play to our competition and play well. it will keep us on top of our game.... make sense?

jumping up and down and getting fired up before a game does not equate motivated in my book.

remembering a loss to florida and wanting a rematch in the SEC championship game is motivation.

likewise... being snubbed, and undervalued by the ncaa committee is something our guys can use to focus their energy and fuel their desire to prove people wrong... ie being motivated.

It's the damn NCAA Tourney...you shouldn't need to be fired up to play.

By that logic, why don't you make Kansas a 3 seed? If they are so great then they ought to be able and beat a 2 and a 1 to get to the Final Four.

And just tallying up losses means nothing, you have to look at who they played. SDSU and Georgetown are probably the best of their seed groups, and I think should be seeded higher. Ohio State and W Va both had claims as a 1 seed, yet they get put in regions with the top 2 seeds? It's messed up

I don't think Kansas would have a problem getting to the Final 4 as a 3 seed. Do you?

My point is that G'town already has ten losses. Why can't we make it eleven? (Assuming we get past SDSU!)

It seems like your point is that you want us to have an easier bracket to play in, and it's not fair that other teams seem to have an easier bracket. Well, as I'm sure you already know, life is not fair!

People that succeed in life overcome the challenges that are thrown in their way. Losers, OTOH, complain about how unfair life is.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. :p

People on this board are going to play?

I don't what you know about the tourney, bur it's about fortunate bounces, matchups and surviving your bad days.

No we didn't. We were the first #2 seed yet they put us with UNC because of "favorable" regional match-ups.

We were the de facto last 2 seed, which is the only one that matters. Talk is crap. Duke is easily the top seeded team this year. KU is fourth with KY third.
