Best QB in the SEC next year (2007)

Not sure that in the scheme of things his performance against us really means though. He's still 6'5" 260 and has a cannon.

True, but if he throws three picks against a banged up Vols defense, I think NFL scouts will wonder about his ability to play against teams like the Broncos, Jaguars, Ravens, etc.

Maybe, but I think they know all QBs have their bad games. They may also consider the fact that Russell threw a game-winning TD in the same game he threw 3 INTs. Maybe they'll see some no-quit in him. Never know...

Jamarcus Russell will be the next Akili Smith. Huge guy with a rocket arm that won't last three years in the NFL.

Yeah, I guess the TD pass he threw in the final seconds doesn't matter at all.

Not to throw gas on a fire, but the receiver that caught that pass was not the receiver he was trying to hit.

"Clutch" is a pretty subjective word, so I'll let you guys try to sort that one out. I would say that, while Russell posesses great talent and athletic ability, his decision making skills have, at times, been highly suspect.

Q 1: What's the single most important aspect to being a successful NFL QB?

A 1: Decision making; football IQ

Q 2: What's the single worst facet to Jamarcus Russell?

A 2: Well, it's not his talent. Must be his decision making.

ok, Ainge's last 4 games were against SEC teams, Mitchell had 2 SEC teams, Clemson and Midd. Tenn. State.

Mitchell
83-118, 1144 yds., 6 TD's, 4 INT's

Ainge
89-134, 1062 yds., 5 TD's, 3 INT's

Very similar stats, with Ainge not having a patsy to pad his stats. Take away the patsy and Mitchell has thrown a sizzling 1 TD and 4 INT's against quality teams.

How is Mitchell better again?
Way to mask it by simply naming them SEC. Kentucky and Vanderbilt are patsies. South Carolina's last four opponnents are tougher than Tennssee's last four.

Not sure where he'll be picked, but Russell has the size and arm strength that will make scouts drool.
About all that matters in the draft nowaday is the combine. Russell is probably a first or second rounder.

The stats are from Arky, Florida, MTSU and Clemson for Mitchell. Vandy, UK, USC, Bama for Ainge.

Granted it might be a little tougher, 45 Avg. Pass defense for Mitchell, 55 for Ainge, it still doesn't offset the fact that 5 of Mitchell's TD's were against MTSU of the Sun Belt. UK's defense rating brings the avg way down for Ainge, but we know they stepped it up against us in the rivalry game.

Either way, the point is moot, Mitchell won't be the best QB in the SEC next year.

 You got your opinion. Mine holds that MTSU probably does have a better defense than Kentucky.

Similar opponnents, similar stats. But Ainge was injured... He's been money against tougher teams anyways.

I wouldn't say loaded. Ainge and Russell are the only QB's in the SEC that I'd qualify as "good." Stafford and Mustain could turn out good, as well. But they're too young, IMO, at the moment.
I think Wilson is a really solid QB. Tough for him though, no line and no one other than DJ Hall to throw the ball to.

For me tragic is when a school bus goes over a guard rail, falls some 16 feet and four kids end up dead.... when one drunk shoots another drunk over a $20 bet made on a football game, especially the Clemson/SC game, that falls in to my stupid category....and IN MY WORLD stupid is always fair game.

Indeed, it was stupid. Beer and high powered rifles have never been a good combination.

Where I have a problem is when you make a joke about the situation when a Carolina fan defends his QB on a message board. I don't even want to take a guess what a day in "YOUR WORLD" would be like.

I think on the whole, Tennessee fans are some of the best in the league. It appears that the idiotic minority is hanging out in this thread.

The fact you're 'starved' for winning doesn't mean the fans get a pass. A month ago my Gamecock friends hated Blake Mitchell and said with S. Newton playing, they would be better, blah, blah, blah. Now, suddenly Blake is the best QB in the conference. What gives?

If you would have read all of my post, you would have seen that I mentioned the offensive line. It has been without a doubt the most improved part of the team. Newton was a necessary change. He spent most of his time running or making throws on the run. Once the line came together and gave a quarterback time to pass, Blake was able to come back in and be effective.

Then that would qualify him as "unproven" along with guys like Mustain and Stafford.

We all know Ainge and Russell are good qb's.

Why bring up the TD pass at the end of the game? There were 2 WRs in the area and no DBs. It was a short route. And there was no pressure from the front 7. Like I said before, Bo Hardegree could have led LSU to a TD on that drive.

They're saying that next year, they could have Prothro back for a 5th year as well.....I don't know that he'll make that big of a difference or not but he could help their offense out a whole lot....Hard to believe that though, that'd be a helluva a come back from an injury like that young man suffered

Best SEC qbs

KY- Woodson
Mitchell/Ainge tie
AUB- Cox
UGA- Stafford
Flynn(2005 bowl game)/J.P. Wilson(bama) tie

:lolabove: :eek:lol: :eek:lol: :eek:lol:

Mitchell and Ainge a tie? Nice joke. Cock fans should pray for Syvelle Newton getting a 6th year of eligibility.

There might be a tie in a bar fight between Ainge and Mitchell but on the football field Mitchell would be third string at UT.

No mention of McFadden?

Brandon Cox better be a whole lot better than he was last year to make the list.
