Best RB of all time?

IMO Sanders was the best... But I figured I would have seen more Earl Campbell and OJ... Earl gets over looked I guess because he played for the Oilers and the fact they literally almost ran him to death and well we all know about OJ... But you can't over look the fact that Earl lead the league in rushing 3 yrs in a row and OJ had 4 rushing titles himself...

What about Ernie Davis? What would he have done were his career not cut tragically short?

Jim Brown is still the correct answer here.

Oh, and don't forget Gayle Sayers. Wow. What a career he would have had with the Bears...

He often gets forgotten in these discussions and he definitely shouldn't be. Also the pairing of Davis and Jim brown in the same backfield would have been great for Cleveland.

For me... it's Walter Payton.

No one will convince me otherwise.

Nobody ran harder than that guy.

It's damn close between Sweetness and Barry Sanders.

IMO the best player of all time was Jerry Rice. I don't think anybody will break some of his records.

Well, the top 2 or 3 have definitely been listed. No Johnny-Come-Latelys in the top 2.

Assuming they stay healthy one wonders if A Peterson or, perhaps even more so, C Johnson might work their way up the list. (obviously a bit early for that just yet, though I'm sure some 12yo might disagree)

Peterson doesn't have a great injury history. If he can quit fumbling, then yes he has the talent to be in the top 5 at least.

RBs like Johnson tend to burn out quickly. If he stays healthy and beats the odds, he'll definitely be mentioned.

It's a shame Steven Jackson plays on such a bad team.

What about Ladainian Tomlinson or Marshall Faulk.....not best ever but top 10 perhaps?

If you're talking about the best season ever, or two season stretch, or the best dual threat backs of all time, then LT makes the list.

Faulk is a great player, possibly hall of fame, but not in the GOAT discussion.

No love for Marcus Allen?

Allen is a very underrated RB. I don't think he really deserves any serious GOAT consideration but when people start listing backs it's a shame he's left off a bunch of lists completely.

Basicly its about highlight reels, I'm not sure Jim Brown and Gale Sayors were given equal time in terms of film of them. Plus it's hard to compare different era's.

I think Jim Brown averaged over 5 yards per carry for his career.

Marcus would be considered if Al Davis hadn't screwed him over in some prime years.

Jim Brown is the correct answer. Might even be the best football player of all time.
I think it's close to being out of the realm of debate about this.

Nobody has ever looked like a man amongst children in football's highest level like Jim Brown has, and it ain't even close.
