Best Whiskey

Chattanooga Whiskey is where it is at!

Sorry should have clarified... I meant taste and distilling process difference. Sorry.

Process is still the same. Rye whiskey just means that it's made from mostly rye grain. The taste is less sweet than a bourbon, and more dry and spicy.

:hi: Thanks. I never knew the difference. Sounds intresting. Any particlar rye (not super expensive) you would recommend trying first?

all bourbons have a slightly different grain profile. Some have more rye than others. You might try one of these before diving right into a full rye whiskey - which can be a little harsh to some people (unless you're a scotch drinker).

Bulleit and Elijah Craig both have slightly higher than normal rye makeups. There's one with it's original roots in Nashville called Belle Meade Bourbon. It is quite a bit heavier on the rye. Not bad, IMO.

For rye whiskey though, Rittenhouse Rye if you can find it is a good value (but it's straight rye). Also, Russell Reserve is a little bit more, but it's typically the standard for good Rye. I believe that Sazerac is the original rye whiskey. Jim Beam Rye is a good value

Do you like it because it says Chattanooga, or because you actually like the taste?

It is actually really good. I usually like Woodford but this has been my drink for about 3 months now.

EDIT: I haven't tried the Cask yet when I was in a state to appreciate it. I drink the Reserve often. My job has some benefits. I am in the supply chain for some large liquor companies. I can drink most whiskey at a discount rate and alot of times for free. Chattanooga Whiskey is my go to.

I got a bottle. Thought it was just OK. I really hope they can get some local laws changed in Chattanooga and bring the distillery back there. Would be cool.

I've only had the reserve as well. I wonder if they're the same barrels?
