Best Whiskey

WHAT!? THE!? ****!??!

I've never had a problem finding Maker's. I've got a fresh 750 I just got last weekend. Need to stock up even more.

Me neither.

I think there's more to it than that. Similar tactic as JD. More water less booze = higher margins.

However, this PR probably won't help.

I wonder if the price of grain has much to do with this

Dont drink the stuff any more, but I really preferred Beam to any of the top shelf stuff...dont tell the misses Im even on this thread though.

Laphroaig is really smokey, I wouldn't anticipate most people liking it. But it's a great example to use since it stand out so much

Cool Story Bro--
I bought some Laphroaig 4 or 5 years ago.. didn't care for the smokey flavor. I put it in the back of the cabinet and forgot about it. My neighbor is a big Scotch man,, so I offered him some. He said it was different and pretty good so I just gave it to him. He told me later that he didn't like it as good as he thought.. took it to Total Wine and got a refund for it... Now that is a PAL for ya...hahaha

Was at my fiancées boss' house this weekend. Drank out of her husband's extensive collection.
- Abraham Bowman Small Batch
- Willett Single Barrel
- Pappy Van Winkle 20 y/o

And finished with some scotch. Balvenie Tun 1401

I was pleasantly surprised with the Bowman. Fairly intense flavors.

The Pappy he had was an old bottle. Still 100% stitzel weller. Definitely one of the best whiskeys I've ever had. Savored that one.

Switched gears and ended w the Balvenie. I don't understand how finishing a whisky for 3 months in Scotland does anything for the flavor, but it definitely was incredibly smooth with nice depth but a sweet, subtle finish. I wish I was more of a scotch drinker in order to appreciate that bottle.

Dang! You drank so much $$$ it would make an Auburn booster blush and a Bama booster faint!

I almost did myself. They invited us over for burgers and some whiskey. I figured I'd be drinking some horse piss like Makers :)

At the top of his cabinet was an unopened 35y/o Talisker. I told him if they cook something nicer than burgers next time then we should crack it open

:eek:lol:

Going to a Four Roses event with one of their distillers tonight. They're serving up some 2012 limited edition small batch and single barrel. Can't wait.

I have been wanting to get some rye whiskey. Chattanooga Whiskey is releasing some soon but what do yall suggest until then. I have read that George Dickel of all distilleries has a rye that is as good as it gets.

I know there are better ryes out there, but Jim Beam rye is my go-to whiskey, perhaps a "chevrolet" of ryes, but it works for me. You could start with that and then move upwards from there, maybe?

Rendezvous Rye by High West Distillery is top notch.

Russell Reserve Rye 6y/o is a flagship rye. And Bulleit Rye is a decent value.

I didn't know Dickel had a rye. Must be new. I'll have to try some.

I have had a couple of bottles of the Beam Rye since my last post in this thread. It is OK but that is about it. It has a good taste but the smoothness that ryes are known for is just not there. I am trying to decide what I want to go get right now. I am reading good reviews on the Jesse James Dupree (Jackyl) Bourbon but I'm a little nervous about buying a whole bottle of of bourbon with a branding from a guy that makes music with a chainsaw.
