Best Whiskey

Golf,

I picked up the Eagle Rare on my lunch break. $24.99. Not bad considering the Four Roses was $33.

I really want to try the 17 year bottle but it was $75.

This past weekend I just bought a bottle of Evan Williams 1783 because it was cheap and I would likely leave the bottle at the tailgate I was at. I know regular Evan is pure pisswater, but I had actually heard decent things about it and Evan Single Barrel. It was $11 for a 5th, and it was pretty good! Fantastic value, but I had a ****ty hangover the next day. Not sure if it's because I got day drunk, sobered up, and then got drunk again, or if it was just the whiskey.

Prob a combination of both!

Four Roses Small Batch?

Yeah small batch with the yellow tag. Not the "barrel strength" with the yellow tag. Four Roses has like 8 diff kinds, hard to keep up.

yea like others have said, they kept watering #7 down

During the JD tour, they made it seem like they have to water it down b/c of some federal law on whiskey. They were saying they make higher proofs but you cant buy them in the States

Not sure what that's about.

I like it, but haven't really had any high quality rye stuff. Do you have any recommendations?

My top 3 whiskeys are Elijah Craig 18 year, Blantons and W.L. Weller limited edition 2009 (~130 proof).

I really haven't tried many kinds of rye, I just find that I can drink Jim Beam Rye.

I don't mean to be disloyal to Tennessee, but the Jack D style of whisky is just not to my taste, nor the bourbons nor scotch. I can drink rye and Irish.

my choice of whisky has to be Jameson, Bushmills is cheaper & not quite as good.

for bourbon I like 12 year Wild Turkey.

Crown Royal + Dr Pepper = Taste of a banana drink. Not bad, but weird.

Pm me if you're serious.

It's a great sipping whiskey. Smooth with a great flavor from the charred oak barrels they age it in.

The distillery let's you sign up to volunteer to bottle for a day, they give you a bottle for your troubles. I've been on that list for a while now...

just checked out there Website, when PM's come back, I'll take you up on a bottle...

George Dickel Barrel Select or Makers Mark are my go to bourbons, but every once in a blue moon I'll drop $ 160.00 for a bottle of Black Maple Hill 16 yr Old Small Batch Bourbon, it's the best there is hands down.

Jack Daniels is the most overrated bourbon on the planet IMHO.

Old Rip Van Winkle

when the next blue moon comes along try one of
Pappy Van Winkle's
