Best Whiskey

I prefer Glenlivet or Jamesons.

I drink the Glenlivet at room temperature. I like the Jamesons over ice.

Anyone who mixes anything other than ice or water (sissies) with good whisky should be shot.

yeah it def depends on what kind of bourbon you have.

I picked up a bottle of Woodford Reserve for the tailgate....mainly because others will be drinking it too and it was only $23. I'd prefer to pay $25 for the Eagle Rare but at the last tailgate everyone cashed my bottle!

$23 for Woodford is a decent deal

Unless I'm freezing my ass off and want to warm up, I will put a couple cubes in.

I was referring only to Scotch with that one, which I rarely ever drink. I've gotten to the point where I pretty much drink everything neat now though.

I think most traditionalists say that a splash of water is acceptable (maybe even recommended) but ice is a no go.

Ill do one ice cube depending on the drink, but with most scotches I always put splash in a little water to bring out the nose.

Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or

I can't bring myself to drink anything else. Unfortunately that means I only drink it when I go visit my parents because I won't spend that much on my own for scotch.

Hope you're not talking bad about mixing a teeny splash of water in.

I am not talking bad about mixing in a little water.

I am talking bad about the people who do it! :p

Seriously though, I am not totally against ice or water. I use the ice because I prefer Irish whisky to be cold. Dunno why, I just like the way the flavor changes. Scotch, I almost like to drink it like brandy. I like to warm the glass in my hand until the aroma gets nice and strong. But for the most part, I am of the opinion that if you want to mix, buy something cheap. If you are going to get the good stuff, then drink it the way it was made to be drunk.

I make an exception to that when I am making margaritas. I will use good tequila for that.

Bump

Had some Macallan 18 year this weekend at my fiance's xmas party. The vice president of the company ordered it for me. It was amazing. Much better than the JW black I was drinking. lol

I went hunting a couple weeks ago and all we had in the lodge was crown and cutty sark. I opted for the latter. I need some bite, crown is too smooth.

Yeah, a friend of mine told me recently he was gonna start drinking crown royal. Same guy can't stand the likes of jack Daniels and the only beer he will drink is coors light and those types. I told him he would like crown. Haha

The Macallan 25 is amazing. Pretty pricey though.

The folks took trip to Ireland last year and took a visit to Macallans or Dewers distillery. Best factory tour ever, though they can't give too many details. I added it to my bucket list.

The guy who got me the 18 was talking about the 25. Apparently when he tried it, it was from a bad bach, though. Unfortunate.
At $550 a bottle, that's a rough time.

I can't blame him, though I probably have different reasons for it. JD is both not very good and you have to pay for the label. Crown is at least cheap, and it usually finds its way into my tailgating backpack. If Jack were about $5/cheaper a fifth then I would buy it from time to time. But there's loads of better stuff out there for under $20/fifth.

Hope the fuzzy memories were from samples and souvenirs. :)

Luckily for him it was at a Restaurant and they didn't make him pay for his glass.

And I know jack isn't the best stuff for the price, but I'll be damned if I just ain't a sucker for the label. Although, their single barrel is some of the best American whiskey out there. IMO
