Better Call Saul

I don’t think Kim is going to be alive for the Breaking Bad arc. One of the teasers has her testifying to some legal group. I think she is going to get herself in a position where she is eliminated and Saul/Jimmy will play a big part. Possibly the final step in the Jimmy to Saul conversion. Just a theory.

I thought for sure she was getting whacked last night. After what she has been thru the past couple episodes, she may just disappear (suicide, mental institution, murdered).

What an absolutely disappointing end to Lalo's run. Foiled by a desperate move and a lucky shot? This whole time I'm wondering how they're finally going to outfox him. It was an ending CSI writers could have come up with in 2 minutes. Seemed really off-brand.
…and how did Gus know beforehand to have a gun placed there. How could he know this confrontation was going to happen. It’s a illogical reach in the plot IMO. Still a great episode nonetheless. I’m surprised Lalo is gone with 5 episodes left. Only thing left is to settle the Kim and Gene storylines. I do not see any other villains to be introduced this late in the series.

He planted the gun there earlier in the season when it was revealed Lalo potentially knew about the laundry. He also measured the steps to the power line in the same episode. Lalo being buried under the lab has been a foregone conclusion for a while, I even posted it in this thread after 6x04. Didnt expect Howard to end up there too, although it makes perfect sense.20220712_173320.jpg

I knew he planted the gun earlier but it seems a reach that he would anticipate encountering Lalo in the lab himself. A little unbelievable IMO.

I can see how you can see it that way, I see it as Gus' character in BB and BCS has been proven to have an amazing "spider sense" and it was tingling.

Dawned on him when he was up selling the spicy curly fries.

So...

I'm guessing Jimmy doesn't learn that Lalo was killed, because in Breaking Bad his line is "Did Lalo send you?" Which can be explained away but on the surface indicates at that point Jimmy/Saul doesn't know Lalo is dead.

What I’m seeing theorized is that Jimmy/Saul has been told by MIKE once before that “Lalo is no longer a problem.” and he has reticent PTSD at the possibilities if Mike is (once again) wrong. So when he’s suddenly taken (once again) that is his pointed guess. He doesn’t KNOW that Lalo and Nacho are dead.

people online talking about Howard/Lalo being buried together was a metaphor of Gus. One neatly pressed upstanding, the other a vicious criminal. And I do agree with the others that the reason why Jimmy say (in traumatic fashion) what he did in BB about Lalo is that he thought he was dead, but he resurfaced, and Mike never indicated that he was dead, just that he wouldn't bother them,.

I highly doubt it's a happy ending for either party. Gilligan punishes the wicked.

Best case scenario for Kim is witness protection. I think it's gonna be worse than that.
Which is a shame because to me she’s the most redeeming character in the show

Mike has past sins but in the show he has a code and only people in the game get got. Kim has no code. I would say Mike's the most redeeming character because is heroic at times and when he's doing wrong/illegal stuff, it's shades of gray. Hell, I would say Howard is more redeeming than Kim. Howard's not some noble knight but he's not an ugly person and he's an excellent citizen of the community. We know how Gilligan ends up dealing with both of them.

The scams Kim pulls are 100% wrong. No shades of gray there. She left a sweet gig at a big practice telling everyone about how she will be doing pro bono work, and she ends up spending her extra time doing crime and ****ing with people's lives.

The show really messes with you because you start out thinking "I want my daughter to grow up to be like Kim" and then it's hard to notice how bad she really has become slowly over time. Nice subtle work by Gilligan.

Lost track that the show was returning from its break this week until I saw this thread. Wow, was not expecting that episode. Maybe for the penultimate episode but not with 5 episodes still remaining. Wonder if this means the last few episodes are going to be set after the events of BB?

My thoughts were kind of similar to some of the others that y'all have mentioned.

I suspect we'll learn that Kim had to go into witness protection because of Hector Salamanca, then at the end of the show we'll see SG in witness protection at the Cinnabon. He and Kim have not seen each other in years.

Final scene.. he's closing up the cinnabon, she comes walking in, their eyes meet, that's a wrap.

I'm thinking that ending would be too happy for that bunch, I'd be shocked. Kim is one of the most complex characters on TV, and I also agree with Huff, that she has went down a dark path.
We just watched her make a choice- the police were sitting there, she rolled down the window. She went on and pulled a gun when the door opened-- she didn't know anything about the man with glasses who looked like a librarian, but she was prepared to kill him. I just don't think this is going to end happily for her and Saul.
