Better Call Saul

Lost track that the show was returning from its break this week until I saw this thread. Wow, was not expecting that episode. Maybe for the penultimate episode but not with 5 episodes still remaining. Wonder if this means the last few episodes are going to be set after the events of BB?
Yeah we haven't had any Gene scenes since Saul was made in the mall by Jeff. Wouldn't surprise me if thats the 1st scene in the next episode just to shift directions.

I thought that BB was one of the all time great TV shows. I
desperately wanted BCS to be as good. It just doesn’t measure up.

Was this episode the one in which Bob had the heart attack?
I hope we see Kim some more and that wasn't it. Strange feeling episode with most of the main characters quiet as others chattered. No Kim and Jimmy lost all his humanity, so maybe not as poison as she thought (at least for him) The final scene with Nacho's dad and Mike summed everything up

Yes, and trying desperately to enjoy it. The Saul character was ” da man “
in BB. He has basically been a wimp in this spinoff.
All I can say is it’s the best series on TV IMO and if not an equal of BB , it is very close to it and even exceeds BB in some respects. New great characters throughout the whole series run and the return of Mike, Gus and other characters from BB.

I just watched the most recent episode “ Fun and Games “.
The first 45 minutes were just as fragmented and stupid as
all of the previous shows. The last 15 minutes give me hope.
Saul Goodman is back.

The series literally exists to show Saul's backstory and how he evolved into "da man" as you say.
It should not have taken this long to do it.
All that silliness with his crazy brother was a waste of time.

Maybe you should “tread lightly” in a Better Call Saul thread. 😎

If he wasn’t “ da man “ they would not have invested in a
spin off on him.
You don’t have to be “Da Man” to have a series invested in the character. I agree with the post that Saul Goodman was a sniveling , cowardly ambulance chaser in BB. Anyway the storylines on Mike, Nacho,Kim and even Gus are just as important IMO in the series as the character of Jimmy/Saul.

Have you watched the entire series?

The stories of Mike, Gus, Hector, Nacho, Lalo, Kim, Howard, Gael, ... I mean, it's much much more than a back story of Saul (which is great in its own right).

Amazing that he required cpr and defibrillation and was back to work in 5 weeks. Also wonder what is was like filming Howard’s wake weeks after Odenkirk was brought back to life from the dead.
I read an article--he said he didn't even remember filming the scenes the day he had the heart attack. He was amazing in the previous show that Butchna said was the episode-- I can't even imagine. I was thinking for sure it was this one, since he was a little more low key. Maybe his recovery explains why it was quieter for him
there was a jump in timeline after Kim left, but I had no idea that the handicapped tag date was during the time of Jesse/walt, which I read online. One or both should be showing up soon, I would guess

I wonder if Saul and Gus will ever have a face to face business meeting other than the one brief non business encounter a couple of seasons ago. I don’t think one occurred in BB. I certainly would like to see it. It would be an interesting scene IMO.
