Better SEC

A couple more questions:

1) He was a professional athlete in the sport he is attempting to gain eligibility into for three full seasons. This wasnt some one year tour that he tried. The NCAA set a new precedent in the Memphis case last year when they introduced a term called "strict liability" basically meaning that it was the responsibility of the institution to prove that a player was eligible, not the NCAA to prove that he wasnt. I know that was an academics case but how can you introduce a new precedent if you dont plan to follow it?

2) Why does he want to come over here to play for "free" anyway? Doesnt that seem a little fishy? European players are getting plenty of exposure to NBA coaches these days so why the need to come play here for one season?

Worldwide Wes and the money mafia were not about to get him a shoe deal while he starred against JP Prince and Tyler Smith. Had to come to Lexington for that.

Better salary in Lexington?

I'm all for UK jokes, but you all seem to be forgetting that the kid was practically committed to Washington before showing interest in UK. So obviously, he had interest in coming to the states other than being paid by UK alums.

I see this being referred to in the years coming as, "The Kanter rule" regardless of how they rule. I, personally would like to see him at UK as I think it gives the SEC 3 teams that are sweet 16 or better as far as potential goes.

Off the top of my head, I may recall some sarcastic comment about NBA teams wanting to get Pearl because he's won so many NCs (sarcasm). Or any time someone says Pearl shouldn't be fired, you sarcastically equate him to a saint (or something to that effect). I'm not going to search for your old posts, but you give your fair share of jokes since you're in the minority of the firing opinion.

Sometimes you get to a point where you can laugh, or cry... I think it is obvious where everyone is at currently. lol

Sarcasm I can agree with. Jokes, no way. I don't consider the fact that Pearl has put our program and institution in this situation a laughing matter. Pearl and the constant support from folks like you is the only joke here.

Ok BV, you may not remember, but I told you I don't support Pearl the way you're making it out. I think what he did was very wrong, and I think he should be punished (even more than he already has been). I just don't think it's unforgivable like you do. I will admit that if it were another coach, there's a strong possibility I would want him gone, but I gotta give Bruce credit. Not only for winning games, but for restoring basketball in UT's sport culture, and for his effort in connecting with the UT community. I'm not blindly supporting him, but I'm not calling for his head.

IMO, it is a mere few days til the first exhibition game, and once that ball gets tossed up in the air next Wed, you either support the basketvols, or you don't. If you have such a problem with UT retaining Pearl, I don't know what to say... He is still our coach, and this is still our team. I will be attending all but 2-3 games as we are forced to work occasional Saturdays now. As long as Bruce is "puttin on for TN" I will support him because he is part of our team. If we move in a different direction, I will support that decision and the new coach just the same. I don't see the need to bicker over this when it: A) isn't going to change anything, and B) quite frankly, doesn't matter

Note: the situation matters, bickering over it doesn't

My response and asking of those questions was objective. Im just not sure of his motive to play here and Cals shady past. Also, if he is allowed to play, it just proves the NCAA is biased which has been known for quite awhile. Im not one of those crazy Memphis fans who hates on Kentucky. I actually appreciate that Cal came here and made us relevant again. But this saga is a bit puzzling.

Negative. According to homefry Calipari is the center of the basketball multiverse and holds the keys to making all your dreams come true. Kanter obviously wants to leave Europe to spend a year learning basketball from Calipari so he can become a basketball star one day.

Your sarcastic post is full of BS that I didnt say. When referring to Cal, I never said he was a good game coach, I simply said he knew how to take a good recruit and develop him into a top-5 draft pick. Hes more of a Don King for college basketball
