I think you've helped him make his point here. Deserving to go to Hell for being born is a bit tough to fathom given that the only way to avoid it is this leap of faith. Logical human minds understandably struggle with this.

We don't deserve Hell for being born, we deserve Hell for sinning against God.
Romans 3:21-26
21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

I don't see the turnoff. You choose to go to Heaven or Hell.
Now that makes a lot of sense. Given the black and white nature of the decision, I can't imagine anyone will end up in Hell - except that the Bible says that few will enter the Kingdom.

Being a Christian, I know nothing else to do but live my life according to what I know in my heart to be the truth-God's word.
That makes it no less useless to use words from a history book in validating the authenticity of the same book.

You know, one of the greatest gifts God chose to give us was the ability to choose. We can choose to accept His word, choose to ignore it, choose to obey it, choose to accept Jesus or reject Him and based on the choices we decide for ourselves where we spend eternity.

Seems a little unfair to create me as a being needing empirical evidence as proof of anything I'm willing to believe, yet tell me that the biggest decision of my existence is to be made via blind faith. Then argue with those that don't believe that they're not welcoming in the Holy Spirit, of which they have no proof.

I do see what you are saying. If one doesn't believe the Bible then they aren't going to believe a quote in it saying it is the word of God.

That is why being a Christian is so difficult. It is blind faith. You belive it or you don't and that is the simplicity of it though.

Because they will refuse to believe the truth. Throughout the Bible, people have refused to believe God, they have been led astray from him by the great deceiver, the Devil. If you give in to the devil, which many people unfortunately do, he will do everything he can to sway you away from the truth.

Deuteronomy 4:29 "But if from there you seek the Lord your God. you will find Him if you look for Him with all your heart and all your soul."

If I don't believe, the Devil is at work, even though my unbelief is rooted in lack of evidence that a presumably omnipotent God could readily provide.

You have the perfect answer for everything yet proof of nothing. Taking the high road as the follower of the only truth has likely led more people to make the wrong decision than any of the other destructive traits the church has shown over the years.

Again, the perfect line. If someone hasn't found the solution yet, they're not trying hard enough or aren't open enough. That's just tough to swallow. Why can't we Christians cram better things down non-believers' throats.

But it is true you can't be a Christian without faith

Romans 4:13-16 "The promise by faith."
Romans 4 "Faith like Abraham" "guitless and blameless through faith."
Romans 5 "Peace and joy with God through Jesus Christ since we are justified by faith."
Read Hebrews 11 and see how many times FAITH is mentioned

V1. "Now FAITH is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we can not see."

V3 By FAITH we understand that the universe was formed by God's command, so that what was seen was not made out of what was visible."

But see that is the thing I HAVE NO ANSWERS. The only answers I have is what the WORD OF GOD says. YES, I put every ounce of my FAITH in these words which are not my own but inspired by the creator of the universe.

In the end, we as Christians can't make non-Christians change their mind. All that we can do is present to them what we know as the truth from the word of God and pray for those that are lost that God will open their eyes to him.

And might I add I FAIL MISERABLY at being at trying to live the "Christian life" on a daily basis.

The message is not foolishness in the least. It's the messenger and approach to converting the unbelievers. Smugness and verse quoting probably couldn't turn people away any more.

I would ask how someone who doesn't believe in Jesus and His very being could do so without the Bible.

And might I add I FAIL MISERABLY at being at trying to live the "Christian life" on a daily basis.

No one is perfect. We just have to continually pray to God that his will would be done in our lives. I will pray that God will strengthen us as Christians and that the eyes of everyone who does not believe would be opened and see the truth that us Christians know.
