I keep telling myself I should postpone taking SS until I'm 70, mainly cause it will cost the .gov more in the long run since my wife will get more per month and will outlive me by at least 20 years. But it may turn out to be the carrot at the end of the stick, and me the donkey in the harness.
I left out the effect of palladium... those catalysts have more than doubled over the past 3 years.2% is rather modest..Corprate vendors typically go up at least 3-5% no matter. I was selling Euro product about 15 years ago when the Euro was killing the dollar and price increases every few months. Exchange rates for these corps...sigh

But by and large, my costs on the base metal catalysts and adsorbents have averaged around 2%/yr escalation.
They will first raise the taxable income threshold. Then they will throw a few more turds at the wall to see what sticks. Delayed and trimmed benefits will be the last thing they touch because the silver Fox coalition will roast anybody that touches their checks. Hell they’re retired what else do they have to do but get organizedWanna bet SS goes up to 70+ years in a few....
Oh I've no doubt if I'm still in business I'll have to pay tax on my SS.Don't forget that other income will probably put you in the bracket where you get to pay tax on your SS - factor that in if you're planning to keep running the business.

I had a young welder looking at replacing my shattered water line yesterday, and he asked me, How long do I plan to "keep doing this" which I answered "As long as I am still able to".
They aren't making it any more fun though.
There's also the likelihood that new regulations will make it more and more challenging for a small business like mine to remain viable.
Here's one for all of you screaming that he would raise taxes..............@luthervol
Please provide positive spin gooch sniffer!
