I keep telling myself I should postpone taking SS until I'm 70, mainly cause it will cost the .gov more in the long run since my wife will get more per month and will outlive me by at least 20 years. But it may turn out to be the carrot at the end of the stick, and me the donkey in the harness.

Don't forget that other income will probably put you in the bracket where you get to pay tax on your SS - factor that in if you're planning to keep running the business.

F'ing democratic minions....they'd still vote democrat if the candidate told them they were going to stick a glowing hot poker up their behind if elected.

Don't get them excited! There are a bunch of dems that would stand in line to get probed with a hot poker.

2% is rather modest..Corprate vendors typically go up at least 3-5% no matter. I was selling Euro product about 15 years ago when the Euro was killing the dollar and price increases every few months. Exchange rates for these corps...sigh
I left out the effect of palladium... those catalysts have more than doubled over the past 3 years.

But by and large, my costs on the base metal catalysts and adsorbents have averaged around 2%/yr escalation.

Where is it typically mined?

The boys are ripping off catalytic converters as fast as they can to keep up with palladium. American recycling at its finest.

Wanna bet SS goes up to 70+ years in a few....
They will first raise the taxable income threshold. Then they will throw a few more turds at the wall to see what sticks. Delayed and trimmed benefits will be the last thing they touch because the silver Fox coalition will roast anybody that touches their checks. Hell they’re retired what else do they have to do but get organized

Oh I've no doubt if I'm still in business I'll have to pay tax on my SS.

I had a young welder looking at replacing my shattered water line yesterday, and he asked me, How long do I plan to "keep doing this" which I answered "As long as I am still able to".

They aren't making it any more fun though.

There's also the likelihood that new regulations will make it more and more challenging for a small business like mine to remain viable.

You can count on that, 85% of mine gets taxed every year. All you have to do is have a few hundo in earnings and uncle Joe is sinking his teeth into your ass.

Here's one for all of you screaming that he would raise taxes..............
Taxes: Biden's stimulus provides larger single-year tax breaks than Trump's or Reagan's cuts - CNNPolitics

The multitude of tax breaks in the $1.9 trillion relief package signed this month by President Joe Biden will provide one of the biggest one-year tax cuts in modern history, a new analysis has found.
The tax breaks are 70% larger than those in any single year of the Republicans' 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, as a share of the economy, and also greater than the first year of former President Ronald Reagan's 1981 tax cuts, according to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center.

Killing the entreprenual class. I never could figure how these boutique shops with high value goods in hip areas make it in even good times. Like the Northshore in Nooga.
