No, apparently it was lebanon's $. That $385,000,000 sent overseas to help a different countries citizens would really help Americans right now. That's not even counting the fema money that was used to provide emergency assistance to illegal aliens.

Where did they find the multi millions for Lebanon? Why was it more urgent than our own people suffering here. Quit watching CNN, MSNBC, NBC , ABC, CBS. They're rotting your brain. It's documented that fema funds were directed to illegal immigrants. They paid for posh hotels in Chicago and NY. They paid for their food and medical care.

This has nothing to do with Trump. It has to do with the management of our country's emergency funds. Trump was not in office for the last 4 years, if you didnt know.

Who greenlit the spending of almost a billion dollars of emergency aid for illegal-aliens? Who decided to send $400million to Lebanon?

You guys trying to prop up and make excuses for this administration should be ashamed of yourselves, knowing what's happening right in your backyard.

I don't care about which party is in office, I care about how our country is being run and how it effects us directly.

Same stuff happened after Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans.

Government stood back and let public figures such as Musicians and others ask AMERICANS to donate money while our great Government was shipping funds overseas to rebuild Afghanistan. 🤦

Yeah, that's a good conspiracy to get all pissed off about, but there's no truth to that. I specifically talked about the Disaster Relief Fund. No money has been pulled from that fund and sent to a foreign government or used to help illegal immigrants. Even Speaker Johnson admitted that the money that might've been used to assist communities receiving immigrants was from a different pool of money. Now, if you think they shouldn't send money to other countries and should put that into the DRF, then fine. I'm not disagreeing with that, but you're acting like they directly pulled money out of the DRF and sent it elsewhere and that's not correct. This subject is more complex than "Biden's giving our money away". There are approval processes that run through Congress on budgetary items and maybe it would be good to focus on who is pushing those through. Here's a hint...folks that wear blue AND red ties.

It was $400m of US money sent to a foreign country to aid their (Lebanon's) citizens ($135m announced AFTER Helene). It could have been used right here, right now.

There is nearly $1billion in US emergency funds that have been used to provide support for illegal immigarants.

Both are US $ amounts spent on citizens of foreign countries. Now we are being told there isn't enough money to help our own taxpaying citizens.

Do you think $1.3b would help the people in East Tennessee and WNC right now? Do you think any country on the planet is gonna send our people $400m to help?

FYI...I'm not making excuses for the current administration but am trying to focus on the actual funds and the process of how they are managed. Congress could come back and approve additional funding, including money redirected from other funds (i.e. the ones used to send aid to Lebanon), if the Speaker chose to do so. Unfortunately, the attitude on both sides is often that they don't want to do the additional work to provide the flexibility we should have in times like this. They'd rather leave the budget as-is and find ways to campaign off it. Why fix a problem if you can campaign about it? They all do it.

My own opinion is that they'll have the money they need for the DRF, still send plenty of money elsewhere, and we'll continue to hear about how terrible everything is from hypocritical politicians because it's an election year. Lather, rinse, repeat...it's just the way things are.

How so? See my last post. There's a process and the folks who can get that going don't act like it's urgent. Instead of just waving your pitchfork, look into the current process for funding approval in government and then you'll find a lot of folks to wave your pitchfork at.

The President has the power to call congress back into session for "extraordinary occasions" congress itself cannot reconvene for a special session. Also under the National Emergencies Act of 1976 the President has the power to divert/reallocate appropriated funds during times of national emergencies. So this is just another example of piss poor leadership from the Biden Administration.

You should understand the process before telling others they should.

It's the way things are because people are so brainwashed by propaganda from both sides that they'd rather spend their time (not you, just people in general) arguing about why their side is right and your side is wrong.

I'm not left or right. I always try to look at how things have been run under the current administration. This is a massive error under the current administration and people would rather argue about why it is or isn't (it is) than holding the public officials accountable and demanding immediate change.

There are people laying dead, covered in mud and stuck in trees in basically our backyard and people just wanna prove that their side is right so bad that they ignore the facts of what is going on.

If this doesn't open anyone's eyes to the agenda of the current administration, nothing will.

So the Biden Administration should declare a national emergency right now in order to have the executive power to divert funding...is that what you think he should do?

FYI...my point in my previous post was that we should look more at the process for funding and find the pitfalls there instead of just waving a pitchfork at one person/group. I never claimed to be an expert on the process and there's plenty I can learn.

From what I understand, Speaker Johnson could call the House back into session but he doesn't think he needs to.

“We’ll be back in session immediately after the election. That’s 30 days from now. The thing about these hurricanes and disasters of this magnitude is it takes a while to calculate the actual damages, and the states are going to need some time to do that,” Johnson said, adding that determining “specific needs and requests based upon the actual damages” from natural disasters takes time.
