Big dance chance?

I thought we needed to finish 11-5 in the SEC and beat UConn. We got the UConn win. Now, we need an unexpected win to make up for the UGA loss.

11-5 would be a pretty safe bet thatd be 19-12, even with a first round loss at sec t we'd be a bubble team. If we go 10-6 and finish 18-13 we'd need probably 1 win to be considered and 2 to feel good about our chances. JMO

I still say we don't have a realistic shot to get to the NCAAs. We will either have to come close to winning out or win the SEC tourney. I love this team, and if Cuonzo would have had more time to practice before the season started, we would surely have a better record. I just think it's going to be too little too late for this season. Certainly hope I'm wrong! Luckily, I have been wrong about a few things so far lol.

If Cuonzo gets this team to the dance he should be COY hands down.

It starts tonight. A win @ Memorial over Vandy will do wonders for our RPI. In fact, if we win our next two away games and take care of business from here on out, we are for sure in!

Im so STOKED for tonight, im praying we don't get let down. This game is huge.

You mention 8 possible teams I just don't see that. I think 5 at most, right now uk uf and miss st would be the only 3 locks I think. Vandy needs to have a strong resume as the committee will be hesitant to put them in with past years debacles. I don't see ole miss, and Arkansas helped their case with Michigan but they still have work to do I believe. I really see a max of 5 teams getting in unless someone not getting in wins the sec t.
How can you even say this? Vanderbilt's not even a bubble team at this point. They killed Marquette and Alabama on the road, and have plenty of other quality wins over Oregon, Davidson, NC State, and Bucknell. There is a reason Lunardi has them as a 5 Seed.

It's early they easily could go on a losing streak starting tonight. In sure they'll make it but to say 8 teams is a bit extreme, h think 6 at most.

I never said eight teams would make it. I said eight teams have a chance. Which is true. Probably only one of Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Tennessee will get in. However, the other five will get in barring a monumental collapse.

Gotcha. Yea those 5 SHOULD make it and I agree one of those 3 may make it but one at most I'd guess. I'd be shocked if more than 6 teams made it in, but that'd be good for the sec.

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately, I don't see the media giving the guy enough credit and attention unless they were to make a deep run.

If we should win tonight and continue upsetting teams down the stretch, this team will get lots of media attention. They're already in love with Stokes.

Remember, he's the 'Never Been Done Before' story in college basketball.

9-3 (beating UK at home could do it) over last few games and SEC tourney semis might do it. Think they will look at the Stokes era to decide if we are in or out. Definitely need this win tonight have to prove ourselves on the road.

Yea I meant to ask about that. I was under the impression that this had happened before has it not?

In two and a half seasons, UK has not lost a home game with Cal as head coach. This Tennessee team has not won a road game all year. Please, enough with the predictions that hinge on a win at UK.

Is it impossible, no. Is it highly improbable, do the math.

Winning at uk isn't a necessary requirement to make the tourney thankfully. With that said nobody should expect a win at rupp but hoping for one is perfectly acceptable.

Nothing wrong with dreaming about it.:)

The guys calling the games have said it numerous times.
It has been done before in football - players coming in early to practice, but never a player coming in mid season to play in basketball.
if it's false it's on them.

guess as usual the commentators are wrong, searched the internet and in 2 minutes found this:

from what im understanding bill walker did it at KSU. he used all of his HS eligibility, whatever that means, and enrolled at KSU in december to gain eligibility for the 2nd semeste. he played in a few games before tearing his acl, he was averaging 11.3 ppg and 4.5 rpg.

Different situation but he did play second semester:

Walker, a 6-foot-6 forward who combined with O.J. Mayo to lead North College Hill to consecutive state championships, has completed his eight semesters of eligibility, the Ohio High School Athletic Association said.

Walker played a year as a ninth-grader at Rose Hill Christian in Ashland, Ky., before enrolling at North College Hill as an eighth-grader in February 2003, the association said.

"Based on the information we have received, Bill has exhausted his eligibility because he has participated at the high school level for eight semesters, which is the maximum permitted according to our bylaws," Commissioner Dan Ross said in a statement. "While we certainly feel for Bill and his family, the bylaws are specific."

he was still technically a senior playing in the second semester though that was what they were stating was a first. walker just happened to play 4 years of high school basketball before he was a senior, but the statements that been made is that this is a first for a high school senior to enroll early and play, thats a false statement.

They'll have to adjust their story to 'First Player Since'

They still seem to love him. He might have that Tebow type attraction for the media.

You know the kind you get sick of hearing about unless you're a fan.

Which is why I'm glad we got him!

My point exactly. That's why I said it sure didn't help us that Michigan lost to that Razorback team a few nights ago. What a nice RPI win that is...

I live in Ashland now and saw OJ Mayo start at PG and lead the varsity team in scoring as a 7th grader for Rose Hill Christian School. The most amazing thing I have seen in person dominating 18 year old kids when he was 13.
