If the committee looks at us with stokes as opposed to without stokes, our chances go up exponentially. No doubt at this point we are one of the top 68 teams with him. Before it, not so much.
Lets say we finish as one poster said, 9-3. For the heck of it lets say the losses are @Kentucky, @Florida and @Alabama (a game I believe we should win). Then we win 1 game in the SEC tourney.
Hypothetical Resume
19-14 (10-6)
Key Wins: @Vandy, vs. Vandy, Florida, Uconn
Bad Losses: @UGA, Austin Peay, @Oakland(debateable)
RPI:somewhere around 60
SOS:64
Bottom Line: This team is a different team with Stokes. They went 10-5 with him, including some big wins and a 3 point loss to Kentucky. With him they are a definite tournament team. Without him they are not. It's up to the committee to decide how that factors in.
im not hating on anyones opinion but in reality, it's a long LONG shot at best.
the facts.....
1) we are a horrible road team and we have 4 of the sec's top 5 left on the road (uk - which is probably the toughest road game in the whole country, uf and vandy, which will be plenty difficult, and bama, who probably plays tougher defense than us)
2) we are poor offensively and far too inconsistant. Look at the long scoring droughts the last two games. we fall back on our defense, which wins games, but we have to get production.
3) the sec is weak. I see 4 maybe 5 teams going dancing. Uk, uf, msu, and vandy are more than likely all dancing. We need teams like arkansas NOT to beat teams like michigan, especially since they hammered the same team we lost to. Basically, we need help. Also out of conference...the acc, big east, and big 12 all look really balanced. Balanced conferences steal more bids. No way anyone can argue, besides the pac 12 maybe, that the sec is close to the bottom of the power conferences.
I aint being negative but it seems like everytime we beat a decent team, we talk about dancing. I just wish we could win a couple on the road first before we talk about dancing.

Andy Katz had the UT/UCONN game listed as one of his four intriguing games Saturday. In it he said Tennesse would NOT be going to the Big Dance. It didn't sound like he was deriding the Vols. Just an odds on prediction.
But it WAS coming from ESPN (lol) and it would make an awesome story if we could win our way in with some of the scenarios listed above.
Here's the task:Seth davis(CBS?) has said that he think we surprise some people and sneak in says he thinks the addition of stokes will play huge on the committee, and will evaluate us post stokes.
Here's the task:
Finish 8-8 in conference and we're 16-15
if we win all remaining home games including Miss, Ark and Vandy.
Go 8-0 in February - beat Ala, Fla and LSU on the road we finish 19-12 (reg season)
Win just 1 of those games we're 17-14 (reg season)
Can't lose a home game!!!
Lose to Aub or SC, we're done.
we pretty much have to win out
Does anyone want to bet money on this? Is that allowed?
It is January 23, and we have not won a single game outside TBA. Not one.
Our RPI is 159.
I cannot believe this is even being debated.
