Big Ten going after Texas

Personally, if I were a Pac 10 schools looking to expand I would look at colorado first because of the Denver media market and larger fanbase.

Plus, eventually Colorado will figure out what in the heck to do and become an above average football team again.

agreed.

yup.

some guy on the cal board is saying sirius is reporting (great source i know) that oklahoma, Oklahoma state, texas, and texas A&M are in talks to make it a pac-14. seems a bit farfetched though.

The SEC would lose too much if Kentucky left. ie: Basketball

This debate has taken place before. The ACC, Big East and Big Ten have all inquired or speculated about adding Kentucky. The Wildcats aren't going anywhere.

Kentucky has gone on record a number of times that it is not interested in leaving the SEC.

For the life of me, other than the Big East (which I understand why due to the basketball yet be a BCS school reason), I don't understand why a conference would go more than 12 teams unless they were going to add two powers.

Right now I can't think of a reason the SEC would ever want to expand unless there was a Texas with some other power team involved. 12 just seems to be the point of diminishing returns in nearly all situation in my book.

How many times has Texas won the Big 12 in the last 10 years?
I didn't say he's doing well, I'm just saying it wouldn't be any easier. Do you really think trading in Bob Stoops for Jim Tressel and Rich Rod would really improve things?

Im certain Mack Brown, errrr Major Applewhite would outrecruit the Vest and Rich Rod with ease.

tOSU cant keep kids in their own state committed to em, and Michigan has recovered from the shock wave of hiring a guy whose credability is directly linked to Slayton.

You're basing your recruiting theory off of only this year I guess. Has Mack Brown not outrecruited most of the country and Big 12 since he's been at Texas anyway?

He only wins because his recruiting. The difference would be that in the Big 10, he would have a tougher road to the BCS. In the Big 12, he just has to beat OU and not choke the rest of the way.

No sir. Im basing that recruiting theory on over a decade or two of watching him take the field with 4 and 5 stars and handing my beloved 3 stars their butts on and around Thanksgiving Day.

Mack Brown sells a brand. Major sells the playing time. They win. Period. And that's tough to type.

They sell the Texas program to Texas fans. If him and Bob Stoops switch cities than OU is 10-0 against Texas in the last decade.

agreed, but youre not gonna sell me on the idea that Michigan "currently" and tOSU "currently" are comparable.

"currently" meaning in the last decade.

I'd be willing to bet Bob has brought in better recruits in the past 10 years that the Vest and the old dude @ Michigan did.

Probably, but OSU isn't that far behind, and Michigan will be on that level in a few years. Neither will be as good as OU, but I'd rather play one than both.

Texas "fans" are sidewalk chumps that bought a t-shirt from Wal Mart. Dont tell me you think that "student" section is actually full of "students". HAhahahahah. That actually cracks me up.

No doubt he recruits well but I meant the part about outrecruiting Michigan and OSU with ease and OSU not keeping kids in-state. OSU had two straight top 5 classes before this one I believe so it's not like this year is the norm. Mack Brown's had talent as good as or better than everyone in the Big 12 the last decade and doesn't have as much to show for it as he should.

Why not? Beating them would assure your contention for a NCG appearance. Playing them close would still put you in a game past January one. If they're going to be as good as you think they're going to be, why would it matter.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about him selling Texas to the recruits that already love the place.

Could you clarify this? I'm not sure what you're trying to argue.

I gotta say though, the idea of not having the sips in the big12 is apealling to me. Of course, we'd all lose money, but......it beats eating waking up the day after Thanksgiving with a hangover.

That's what Texas already has though.

but someone claimed that tu doesnt have the same competition in the big 12.

Okie Lite may still be on the way up. I mean yeah, they stubbed their toe along the way this year, but we played em tough (as always), Stoops is usually up for a game provided he has a qb, and Nebraska only gonna get better in the North. We play ball down here too.
