Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Forest People in Tennessee

I don't personally believe in Bigfoot, but I still think it's fun to read about the myths, legends and stories from those who do believe.

It seems we have two different types of posters: those who don't believe and want to mock the mere idea of any discussion, and those who like to actually discuss details about the information out there on Bigfoot.

Maybe this thread should be for debating the existence of Bigfoot and we have another thread for those who are interested in respectfully talking about specific information that exists on the subject.

Just a thought. :hi:

Again, I don't have a problem with discussing it, but what constitutes actual honest discussion? I'm generally interested in things like this but I'm also about as big of a skeptic as you'll find.

Actual discussion would involve providing skepticism and data that might contradict the other side. And that has gone on here, but as I alluded to earlier, that hasn't exactly been met with open arms. I can admit the mocking and joking went far, but as I said, some of that is in response to the pooh-poohing of skeptical views and outright ridiculous "logic" put forth.

This has been going on a while, but at point people were complaining that those who were dissecting claims were basically raining on the parade. That is why I said they wanted to have it both ways, essentially post whatever they felt but not for anything to break down what they post. And I'm sorry but if you post AS FACT some of the things that have been posted but get upset when some point out how completely illogical the claims are, then I'm not sure why you bother posting it at all.

I'm not really sure who or what you're referring to really. And I'm not calling anyone out. I was just looking for a way to continue the discussion for the benefit of those like myself who like reading about the myths and views from people who research this stuff.

I can skim back through the last few pages and it's not hard to decipher those trying to have a conversation and those just wanting to make fun. And trust me, I'm not trying to imply that some of the jokes aren't funny. :)

There's a guy in bama that goes to them. They come see him. He leaves them food. Eye shine, rocks thrown, etc.

If it's real, he's crazy.

You ever watched the show? The one where the so called "experts" bring the mocking and ridicule on themselves. I may run outside and do a howl and see if I get a response......either way they're watching.

They will be the last ones to get any evidence. It's all for ratings and money.

The two best encounters that I like are the doctor down in Texas and the Cowman story.

Runners up goes to the woman in Michigan who pulled over to get some rest and the creature was looking through her windshield at her 18 month old child.

I have not. I'm not a big reality tv fan.

Unless you mean this, in which case I'm a big fan. Love these.

Lol. Yea those are hilarious. The show was "Finding Bigfoot" on Animal Planet. Not sure I would call it a reality show.

What exactly do you want? Everyone to say "Oh wow, you got it! It's obviously true!"

Nope, not at all. If you don't believe that's perfectly fine. I don't see the point in bullying on the internet, especially considering the majority of us are grown adults. I just see no reason for the constant childish mocking and jokes.

Wasn't yall taught if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all?

This conversation goes well back before the last few pages. I'm referring to in the past, valid criticism has been given that was met with the "stop messing this up with logic" type backlash. And that has helped lead to the now flatout mocking.

It's been crystal clear in the past our resident expert has bristled up when his claims have been challenged.

i find the distinction of everyone being "grown adults" kind of funny considering the thread we are in.

I was taught if you make a claim, you better have evidence to back it up.

I respond in a humorous manner on this thread because if I was to give a thought out reply to most of this stuff it would be a degradation of my own intelligence. When people post approximate weights, heights, social structures, mating rituals, life expectancy, and other things as fact about an either nonexistent or uncharted species I actually physically cringe. There is absolutely nothing scientific about it.

Honestly I wouldn't mock half as much if people could understand the difference between unsubstantiated hypotheses and scientific fact.

It's a thread about Bigfoot. Those of you looking for undeniable fact and absolute proof may be missing the point. Or maybe I am.

I think you might be. The OP undeniably believes these things exist. That or he's a top notch troll. He claims to know 50 people that interact with these things on a weekly basis. Why is there no proof?

If you think he's a troll, then why respond at all?

You're not going to find your proof from me. I don't think they exist. And I certainly didn't open this thread in a forum named The Pub expecting someone to convince me.

Like most folks I think it's humorous

Sure. But by calling the OP a troll, demanding proof and insulting those who may choose to believe, you're taking it a bit more seriously than I am I guess.

Oh well, I'm moving on.

When this thread began the OP simply asked if anyone on VN had ever encounter a Bigfoot. He never made any claims or presented any evidence except in direct answers to questions from either you or others as yourself. At which point, then the mockery began.

I have said from the beginning of the thread that I HAVE NEVER seen nor encounter a Bigfoot but have heard stories from my parents and grandparent who both grew up in the Smoky's before the Park took their land and these stories make me at least open minded.

That at least is my take on what happened in this thread... it is one thing to ask a question but another to mock any and all responses.... When someone give you an answer that you disagree with, then counter it...but no need for mockery... again JMHO

How can you believe in it and attempt to discuss it without providing proof that you say you have? I don't think anybody has been insulting just maybe some ribbing. Well I gotta get back to Hogwarts.

Yes, and the problem lies in those direct answers to the questions. He's the one who has replied with specific claims that he presents as 100% fact, and he himself has pretty much ridiculed others who don't agree by stating they were merely "ignorant".

I have no problem with the discussion; what I have problem with is someone who wants to act like they have proof and wants to proclaim what they are saying is fact but bristles when that is challenged. This isn't a Bigfoot board, it's a general board. If he didn't want his claims challenged, perhaps he shouldn't have made them. It's not our job to coddle his beliefs or stroke his ego.

I just think it's funny how guys like him get turned into a victim.

People have been insulting, and the joking has gone far, but the claims made (again....as 100% fact) are just as ridiculous.

What's he trying to pawn off as 100% fact that's so upsetting? Just so I know. The posts I've seen from him all seem pretty respectful at least.

Everything he has said has come from his own belief. He only asks for us to share what we have experienced. Yet people bewiddle him. The jokes are getting a little old. I mean, They JUST discovered a new species of apes the other day. But you know that's not possible.
