Biggest bust as a highly touted recruit.

I do NOT consider Jalen Hurd a bust!! In fact, I think he was a very good player..

Yeah Hurd went out like a little b_tch but he definitely wasn't a bust! If he had stayed he would be the all time rushing leader at UT and beloved by fans for years to come. Instead he decided to become a whiny prima donna and took his ball and went home! What a punk!

The linebacker out of Jackson Central Merry, Daniel Brooks. He was a five star recruit. You had to send him to a frat party to get him to hit somebody.
Agreed. Played against him in high school . Thought he was going to follow in the steps of Al Wilson. What a disappointment.

He played for a punk who lied to him. My standard for a 20 year old is quite a bit lower than a grown man getting paid millions to coach. 100% on Jones.

He quit on his team. He got lit up and fumbled in the Georgia game because he lost focus and tried to showboat into the end zone. Then he refused to play in the A&M game and left at the end of the season. I don't care what the coach did or didn't promise him. He handled that situation about as terribly as you can. Plus wasn't he the catalyst who pushed for the firing of S&C coach Dave Lawson? Yeah, the impact of that was definitely felt the next season when we looked about as soft as marshmallows against Appy State. I'm not saying CBJ didn't do him wrong but the way Hurd handled it was bad. He SHOULD'VE been a beloved VFL, up there with Al Wilson, Manning, Eric Berry, etc but because of how he acted, he's all but forgotten about now. Truly a shame.

DARDEN, simply because of his own self hype. "I going to do great things for Tennessee". (paraphrased) Al Wilson "Let's see if this Freshman is ready to play some ball" Prior to slamming BD into the turf in the "Tennessee Drill".
This was going to be my answer lol

Who would you say in your lifetime of following Tennessee football was the biggest bust or a recruit who everyone thought would be great but was a huge disappointment. Mine would have to be Brian Darden.

Who was the RB from Kansas 5* that didn't work out?

It did not start at UGA. Jones lied to get him to sign. He gave Hurd some I formation runs vs Iowa to keep him from transferring then went back to his own "brilliant" scheme after that.

He was mismanaged by Jones at EVERY point from the moment he committed. Yeah. 100% on the "adult" there. He was an immature kid who had been twisted into a knot by a conman and acted out. Definitely a bad look... but even a slightly competent leader doesn't get to that point.

Using your rumor... what do you think the chances are that any player on the roster today could instigate the firing of a coach?

Chris Donald is probably the worst I've seen. UT "beat" ND to get him with a lot of handwringing by folks here. IIRC, he finally transferred and became a back up at UTC.

Hate to talk about the deceased but Daniel Broods was an absolute disaster. Not only did we waste a scholly on him but also another on the tennis player and missed Patrick Willis along with it. That's what you call a cluster!
The Tennis Player was Bo Hardegree, who has carved out a nice coaching career in the NFL.
