Biggest bust as a highly touted recruit.

Hurd, Bryce Brown, JG and McKenzie are all good candidates, IMO

I have to respectfully disagree on Hurd. He played hard and put up numbers. This was true despite playing in an offensive system and a position that did not suit his talents. I don't like the way his time on the Hill ended. But I don't see him as a bust like the other guys on your list. Those are spot on sir.

I also always think of mid-90s TE Dustin Moore. He was so hyped and was really impressive during his short time before being kicked off the team (as I recall). Huge unrealized potential.
Well, he wasn't exactly a "bust." He did flash as a productive athlete during his short time with us. I am sorry that he made bad choices and got into trouble that ended his football career. Was Tony Robinson a bust? No. A disappointment, yes, but not a bust in the sense of overestimated ability.

TRob was injured. Yeah he got in trouble later but you’re at an all time stretch comparing TRob to Moore. Moore choose drugs over football.

For me, Cade Mays is a bust. He looked like a 1st round pick coming out of uga. Then he didn’t do much here. Thought he was gonna be an All American.

What? That was Fulmer and his offensive staff's blunder.

He was top notch with Kiffin, and still went pro.

Just imagine if Crompton had four years under Kiffin.

Sterling Henton was aweful, thankfulling Andy Kelly was ready to take over Henton's reins.
All I remember is the Crompton hype that never actually panned out.

For me it is Kaiden Salter as far as UT is concerned. Suppose to come in here and be an almost instant starter. Had a go fund me page for his dad (I think) that got Covid here. University had to make sure that didn’t violate some NCAA rule or got a waiver. Then he gets in trouble and is off the team before season even starts.

I probably have to go with Chris Donald, but I’m surprised no one has yet mentioned Kenny O’Neal, the junior college 5 star WR who did absolutely nothing here.

Most people won't remember Stephon Moore. He was signed by UT but couldn't qualify academically. He went to TMI with Sam Henderson, Dale Jones and a few others in fall 1981. After what should have been their collegiate freshman year at UT, a few of them went to UT after a year at TMI in Sweetwater. Stephon made the grade to matriculate, but flunked out fall quarter of 1982. If you look back at the preseason periodicals before 1982, you'll see his name mentioned as a big play guy. Played TB and was brilliant as both a runner and receiver

If we can do that then Perry Hutchins. South Pitt. Tn wanted him but no grades so he went juco. Dropped out after a day. He was rated higher as a recruit then Al Wilson and Copeland per the top 10 players in Tn per Chattanooga Times. That was like 1994.

I recent times Khalil McKenzie and Brice Brown. Esp about McKenzie there were weekly articles every year on how he was dominating Butch's circle of life etc .. yet never materialized. Bryce wasn't here long.
Khalil McKenzie was a 1 tech NT. His job was to displace the OL and occupy blockers which he did just fine. He was never going to be racking up a bunch of stats.

JG wasn't a bust at all...he was our qb for 8 or 9 years. That makes me really sad...it means all the other qbs here at the time were busts.

Haha. It did seem like a long time . He seems like a really good guy, but it was a tough go for him here, despite what the star nerds on here will say. I think that also reflects on the coaching as busts as well.
