Biggest bust of the year?

i think South Carolina will be a bust...a lot of ppl say they will win the east

If not winning the SEC east is considered a bust...Then SC may be a bust but that puts UF and UGA in that same category. I believe both of those teams lose to my GAMECOCKS this year. SC really has a good team this year. The only concern for me is the OL. Other than that solid.:)

Auburn #1 by far
Really? I know the schedule is nasty but they seem to have a pretty solid team returning.

Georgia could really disappoint, too.
I'd say you're right but I don't know if it can really be called a bust. They replace most of their best players on D, 3 of 5 OL's, their TE, and a bunch of WR's known to have hands of stone.

I know I'm harping... and boy do I hope it isn't my bias talking... but I just don't see how UF lives up to the hype. I can see them 1-3 in conference before their new players figure out where their classes are... oh, bad assumption on my part huh? Maybe try... before they figure out where the ammo for the AK is.

When I think of busts, I always compare where they are in preseason polls to where they finish. Georgia is getting top 15 love, and might finish NR.

UF is getting top 5 love... and I see at least 5 games that are very "loseable" on their schedule... maybe more depending on how things progress at USCe.

True, Florida won't finish top 5, but the voters are idiots, too. Florida could be 10-2 down to 8-4.

You really think 10-2? You need defense to do that and I just don't think they'll put it together until late in the season.

Great for them in 08... but I think they'll experience some pain this year.

10-2 sounds logical, The games at South Carolina and LSU pose the greatest threat to the Gators. But I do not believe S. Carolina takes the east. The east will be decided in on a September afternoon in Gainseville.

Tim Tebow and why. A lot of fluff, the guys who made him look good are all but gone. He is yet to go through a full SEC season being the one and only. I think he must change the things he did last year to make it through this year I just do not see him rushing aginst the SEC D lines they will surley be ready for this.

I think Rutgers will do fine. They have more to lose this year than last. They'll play very tough.

My votes
So Cal
Cal
OSU
ND

Welcome to the board. Just let you know... I despise the Gators but its nothing personal against Gator fans.

That said, I think UF will struggle and especially early in their SEC schedule when they play UT, @Ole Miss, Aub, and then @ LSU. I just don't see their defense being league ready with that much inexperience. The common answer is "they have talent"... and yes they do just like every other SEC defense. The difference is that their talent is neither experienced nor developed in the program to the degree the opposition's is.

I'll buy the Meyer spread when I actually see it dominate in a conference where the best athletes are on defense like it did in conferences where the athletic disparity between O and D is significant.

Yeah, Espn has UGA 11 and Tennessee out of their top 16. Georgia could conceivably go 1-4 in the SEC East again this year, but I'm calling for 2-3 with wins over mighty Vandy and UK.

But yeah, definately not top 15 let alone 12 (AP) or 11 (ESPN).
