Biggest lie Heupel debunked?

Can honestly say this was the first hire I was not overly excited about and didn’t just buy into the “he’s our guy, let’s roll mindset”.

I think my biggest myth was the whole gimmick offense and not working in the SEC. We got Saban complaining about whatever he can think of and politicking to get in the playoffs last year and we’re still scoring on a couple teams.

I’m all aboard the Heup Train now though. Jumped right on in feet first after the midway point in 2021. We got our guy

He cares about defense but we still haven’t seen elite defense

my point was a follow up on recruiting lie - cornbread /Bammer gump didn’t coach DBs well, and he didn’t recruit defense well either - the last class and the one coming are going to get the defense where we need it to be

When he was hired, there were plenty of false accusations about what he would/wouldn't do. What is the biggest lie you believed? As an example, I believed Heupel was a bad recruiter.
I don't consider anything anybody said to be lie. They were opinions.

I didn't have one because I wasn't familiar enough with him. I did post here that I thought the fastest way to rejuvenate the fans base was with a high powered offense and I think that's been proven correct.

The whole "defense isn't good" talk is a mirage. Our defense in year 2, after all the transfers, etc, was great. It may not have looked great, because they were playing opposite a record-breaking #1 offense in the country, but all things considered, defense is well ahead of schedule.

Add in the new players and 3 years in, we will be very surprised at how well our defense plays this year. Our offense will still be good, but our defense this year could potentially be better. 👀

The bottom line is he has improved ppg allowed more than a TD in 2 years. That’s solid and we finished somewhere in the top 40 or so if I recall correctly. At times the D carried the O. Hopefully we will continue getting better.

So, if we falter this year, it is all your fault, bc we played great when you were not excited and now that you are....:D

This: UT AD Danny White, reiterated that Heupel was his No. 1 option and the only person offered the job, knocking down reports Tennessee approached other high profile coaches who declined the job.

So, being that they worked together side by side at UCF, this does make sense. Whether it totally debunks rumors of other coaches being approached? We may just never know that one but, am glad Mr. White brought CJH to Knoxville.

I'm ashamed about this one-I both heard and thought that Heupel would be a bridge, stabilize the program, and get fired in 4 years. Then, Tennessee would be in a place where they could hire a 'real coach'.

Now, I don't want him going anywhere! He's the best schematic, most genuine, most fun, and most likeable coach we've had in decades. Funny how two seasons can change my perspective that much.

Man, I love being wrong about this 😎

When people speculate about what someone might do, it's neither a lie nor false accusation.
