Biggest lie Heupel debunked?

When he was hired, there were plenty of false accusations about what he would/wouldn't do. What is the biggest lie you believed? As an example, I believed Heupel was a bad recruiter.
Pass happy offense no running the ball. It’s gonna be a gimmick that’ll never make it in the sec without bein able to run the ball. Turns out we run more then we pass I like it

“Heupel is a good coach, but he is not going to inspire many people."

“No matter how you spin it or how they attempted to spin it yesterday, the school seemingly keeps sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss.”

Paul (Paw) Finebaum

We've got the receipts Mr. Paul.

He cares about defense but we still haven’t seen elite defense
Really?! He has been here TWO years after inheriting an epic disaster thanks to previous staff and portal! There was a dramatic uptick in defense in year two and an impressive showing in recruiting defense so far. No magic wands or three wishes available two years ago.

It's funny how it's so ingrained in fans' and commentators' minds that running a football program is such rocket science that there are only about 10 people in the world that can do it well and they build all their opinions around that.

The hard part for me is redefining in my head what good defense is supposed to even be. Heupel just plays a style more akin to basketball where the point isn't really to dominate the other team defensively. It's to just slow them down enough for us to sprint past them.

The whole "defense isn't good" talk is a mirage. Our defense in year 2, after all the transfers, etc, was great. It may not have looked great, because they were playing opposite a record-breaking #1 offense in the country, but all things considered, defense is well ahead of schedule.

Add in the new players and 3 years in, we will be very surprised at how well our defense plays this year. Our offense will still be good, but our defense this year could potentially be better. 👀
Its proven fact that anytime you have an offense of the caliber we had the defense will look bad artificially. Remember Peytons Colts? People always complain about their defense being so bad but they had pro bowlers all over the place and a defensive player of the year. Bob Sanders, Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney and so on.. Math is undefeated. NO matter how good your defense is it consists of humans and they get tired.. the more snaps the spend on the field the more likely bad things happen. You can hold a team to 1 yard a play for 98 plays they break 2 plays for 70 yard TD's You went from giving up under 100 yards to nearly 250 just like that. Its the gamble you take with a fast-paced offense. execution/effort wise our defense has been fine. People were not out there being clueless and out of position. We had lots of injuries and instability in the secondary and teams took advantage of that. Even given that our record proves we held up.

For the record, our Defense played exactly one terrible game...Banksgate...
They did their part vs UGA. Only 3 times did Jawja score less than 33 points and the only teams that held them to fewer points than us were Missouri and Kentucky (both really good defenses till they played us)
We won the rest of the games.

My big concern was he would force our personnel to fit his offense, and the results would be a disaster.

Butch plugged a lot of square pegs in the round holes of his spread scheme. Worley couldn't produce in that role, and Butch lost that elite OLine during his first season with his overly complicated blocking scheme. They refused to do it and Bajakian made more traditional blocking assignments.

I feared Heupel would do the same, and he did. But the results were so different. Our dedicated players who stayed were more than good enough to excel with a potent gameplan. Our roster stepped up and got coached into a feared offensive unit. Hooker's emergence was a huge part of it, but there are breakout stars anytime a new coach succeeds early.

That he would focus on smaller more mobile Oline guys.

Manning's Colts didn't win a Superbowl until they had a good defense

Why would you care? We know for a fact that Heupel can recruit. Totally unnecessary angst

The post is about a lie or accusation that wasn't true that Heupel busted

You said
When people speculate about what someone might do, it's neither a lie nor false accusation.

I gave you an example of someone throwing a false accusation that we didn't know was false before Heup started recruiting at Tennessee.

There is no angst, just bad reading comprehension from you..
