Due to Florida's probation in 1990, the Vols represented the SEC as Champions in that Sugar Bowl. Florida won the SEC in 1991 with a perfect league record.

Florida won the SEC with perfect league records in 1995 and 1996 and wins in the SECCG. The Gators also played for the National Championship in 1995 and 1996, winning it in 1996. Tennessee beat Auburn in the SECCG for the 1997 SEC Championship and a spot in the Bowl Alliance National Championship Game. (on a side note: including Tennessee's BCS appearance in 1998, the SEC East Champion appeared in the National Championship Game 4 straight seasons from 1995-1998).
Both ended their careers with lopsided losses (identical score) in bowl games..... each's only bowl loss.
Kelly led the Vols to a thrilling 31-27 win over #10 Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl, another thrilling 23-22 win over unranked Virginia in the Sugar Bowl, and lost 17-42 to #6 Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.
Manning led the Vols to blowout #17 Virginia Tech 45-23 in the Gator Bowl, a tough 20-14 win over #4 Ohio State in the Citrus Bowl, another blowout victory over Big 10 champ #11 Northwestern 48-28, and a loss in the Bowl Alliance National Championship Game to #2 Nebraska 17-42 (Orange Bowl).
