Biggest Vandy UT game ever?

Considering there never has been any such thing as a big Vandy game before, I guess I'd say yes?

Vandy is in a great position for this game. If they win, they get to rub it in all of our faces. If they lose, they get to say, "Big deal, we're Vandy."

They ALWAYS have that second point as a trump card :)

This is a big game for the program period just happens to be against vandy. This team needs this win and s win in the next game. The extra practice for the underclassmen will help for next year tremendously

By "big" I mean to Tennessee, not in a national perspective. Cannot imagine losing 2 years in a row much less on our home field "big". One Tennessee, keep TN orange, take back the state, Our State "big". If you don't understand what I mean by "big" then your not a real fan IMO.

Except for the losing streak part, why wasn't last year's game against Vandy just as big?

And thanks for helping us figure out who the "real fans" are.

Agree. It's big, but only because it's next. The Kentucky game is just as big.

I'm not saying it will happen, but if the Vols kick Vandy's teeth in, I could see Franklin crying like a little girl in the middle of the field surrounded by massive piles of his own feces.

What exactly have the Vols done this year to make u believe they can kick in anyone's teeth. They nearly lost to South Alabama, a program that's only been around 5 years. They got beat by one of the worst Florida teams in history. A vols win is possible Saturday but it won't be a blow out.

A team that beat WKU, who beat Ky, who your pathetic excuse for a team struggled with this Saturday.

Know your role and prepare your grill.

and they get to say "we qualified for a bowl before the "big brothers""

and they get to say "we have played in more bowl games and had more winning seasons than "Big Brother" in the past 3 years."

That's ok. Their time saying these things is almost up.

We lose it and the program is at the very, very, very, bottom of hades. 4 losing seasons in a row, first time since 1903-1906, not to mention we may very well not even show up to play kentucky and we could lose 8 games leaving ohio state as the only team to not lose 8 games. recruiting could take a hit as well. losing to both these teams might also raise more questions about the assistant coaches and their abilities to get the team focused and prepared, which they have failed to do so at all this season when we have played away from neyland stadium.

To add, a losing streak to that coach. How could it not be a important game? Vandy was lucky against GA, FL, Ky, guess they could get lucky against us. Hope some don't use any of the famous excuses we have heard for 4 years.( 4 years referring to our total loses.)They are not more talented, faster, deeper, etc.
GOVOLS! Get it Done.

If we don't understand your incredibly pedestrian and obvious "duh" kinda post we're not real fans.... jeez. Hope you didn't actually give this post more than 3-4 seconds of thought.... it's not good work.

I am not a journalist. Maybe I should rephrase my "real fan" comment to "smart azz fans".

And just who in the hell has Candy beaten this year? They've beaten one team with a winning record and that was a crippled UGA team who gave them the game. UT played Fla when Fla wasn't crippled either. Don't act like Candy is all that. They've feasted on cupcakes in their out of conference games for the last 3 years and beaten no one worth a damn in those 3 years. They got smoked by Mizzou and A & M this year. Franklin's best win in his tenure was against a NC State team that UT even beat with Dooley as coach.

Vanderbilt Has A Chance To Make History

Much has been made about Vanderbilt’s beating Florida at Gainesville for the first time since the Second World War. When the clock hit 00:00 at Florida field last Saturday, and Will Muschamp’s world came crashing down around him, it had been over 67 years since Vanderbilt had managed this feat.

Think about that. 67 years.

For a Vanderbilt fan born in 1946 and dying last year at the age of 67, he would have lived his whole life without ever seeing Vanderbilt beat Florida at home. It’s an incredible stat, and one showing the absolute ineptitude of Vanderbilt’s program over that timespan.

Rumors are swirling of Franklin leaving Vanderbilt for greener pasture$.

But there’s another record, even more illustrative of Vanderbilt’s longsuffering, that the Commodores have a chance to do away with during this month of November.

When Vanderbilt beat Tennessee last year at Dudley Field, it was the first time they had beaten the vols in over 6 tries, and one of only two wins over Tennessee going back 30 years. So on the 23rd of November, 2013, Vanderbilt will attempt to do something it hasn’t been able to do in a very long time: beat Tennessee two years in a row.

That’s right. A two year winning streak against Tennessee would be a big deal for the Commodores, and here’s why.

Remember the fictitious Vanderbilt fan up-article, who lived 67 years and never saw Vanderbilt beat Florida in Gainesville? Well, he’s got nothing on Mr Fictitious Vanderbilt fan #2, who lived…wait for it…87 years and never saw Vanderbilt beat Tennessee two years in a row. He would have gone 87 years without ever being able to talk smack about a winning streak, ANY winning streak, even of two years, over Tennessee’s football team.

87 years. It’s incredible, when you think about it.

Vanderbilt's 1922 squad. (Not the 1926 squad, but you get the idea)

1926 was the last year that a Vanderbilt fan was able to look a Tennessee fan in the eye and say “we’ve beaten you two years in a row”. But all that could change in November. Vanderbilt could make history.

Vanderbilt could beat Tennessee two years in a row. Their first winning streak over Tennessee in football since 1926. Will it happen? Common sense says it could. Vanderbilt is playing very good football right now, and Tennessee is not. Vanderbilt has confidence right now, Tennessee does not.

History, however, begs to differ.

I must say I didn't write this. Got it from a Vandy fan.

Three years... now that's a tradition. You sound like a Florida fan in 1995.

Hey, UT beat a ranked team this year for the 1st time in how long! I'm shocked there wasn't a parade for the team!

Vol fans need to realize, this is a big game. We are trying to climb back and yes this is a huge game because we must win to get to a bowl game.

If we lose next week the kentucky game is badically meaningless.
